Sound Question

FSX Deluxe Edition c/w Acceleration SP1 SP2

Recent install onto a new computer as per Nick N .... M/S XP Media edition 2005
Intel i3CPU 530 @2.93GHZ
4.0 GB of Ram
Middle of the road sound card.

The problem that effects both default and some payware a/c is this - when I bring the throttles back to low idle the engine rpm sound stays in full power mode ?? sometimes I can hear two sets of sounds at once ..... high rpm and a faint low rpm ?

Any thoughts ?

Cheers for now

I have found that in FSX, at least in SP2-Acceleration, the sounds do not always follow the throttle settings. This is especially annoying with piston engines during shut down. On many occasions I have run the engines up to about 1500 rpm, then shut off the mixture and the shutdown sound will play twice. Really odd to hear the engine shutting down and the prop has already stopped. I'm guessing it's just one of the quirks that was never worked out in FSX.

Alot of audio get's screwed up when switching views. To correct it, simply hit Q to turn off the sound then turn it back on again and the proper RPM should resume.

Do you get this problem with all your piston packing planes or one in particular ?

I'm asking this as I had such a problem with one particular plane and found the solution in the sound package itself...

Same here. Only some sound sets do it. I have lots of twin engine piston planes in FSX aliased to the Alphasim Blenhiem sound, because it doesn't ever do it. Until recently, I had convinced myself that FS9 sound sets do not exhibit this behavior, but I have since run across one that does. Not in FS9, but when used in FSX.

Cheers for this, I'II give it a try :)

Fleurdelys - piston engine a/c which include the default DHC2, C152,Payware BN2 Islander. I've had the same copy of FSX since it was released several years ago now and sound has never been a problem ??

Some do and some don't. I just put out a sound pack for the Nemeth Sky Crane with no issues but the pack I'm releasing today for the RV8 had a few issues with the incorrect RPM's playing. I did manage to minimize it as much as possible but it's still happens from time to time.
