Couldn't stay around for F-1, but I stayed up long enough to see my man Jeff Burton take Charlotte and move up to second in the Chump Chase. I'm just happy to see him win!

Will see F-1 on the replay.

Yeppers I must agree...
It was good to see Jeff win.....

Now if we can only get Ward in a car also....:mixedsmi:

Agreed!! :d

It's nice to see the RCR cars doing well, although my Kansas boy wasn't able to stay up front.

All in all, Richard childress Racing had a great weekend!!!

2) #31-Jeff Burton 5809 -69 [2 wins]
3) #16-Greg Biffle 5792 -86 [2 wins]
4) #99-Carl Edwards 5710 -168 [6 wins]
5) #07-Clint Bowyer 5693 -185 [1 win]
6) #29-Kevin Harvick 5671 -207
7) #20-Tony Stewart 5650 -228 [1 win]
8) #24-Jeff Gordon 5633 -245
9) #18-Kyle Busch 5552 -326 [8 wins]
10) #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr. 5524 -354 [1 win]
11) #17-Matt Kenseth 5518 -360
12) #11-Denny Hamlin 5498 -380 [1 win]

Pretty clear that Jimmy and Chad are racing for a Cup not wins - as he was 6th last night - smart.

Not according to Jimmie! In an interview with the SPEED guys, he said his car was way too loose, that he wanted to go for the win, but couldn't make his car work, and that he was pretty disgusted with a 6th place finish. That sounds more like the Jimmie Johnson I've seen up to this point...

Hey All,

I've no doubt Jimmy wanted to go for more as that is his favorite track but he didn't risk anything because he knew he didn't have the car. Do you risk more when there is no Cup on the line? I think so. Take what you can get every race and don't risk a wreck when the Cup matters most. That's what Jimmy and Chad are doing. Nobody will remember who won Lowe's fall race 10 years from now but they will remember who won the cup.

"JIMMIE JOHNSON: First two thirds was good for us, then we were junk at the end. Tried to get up there. Took a lot of risks tonight trying to get as many points as I could on the 16 and trying to hang with that 31 and get by him. Damn near threw it away a couple times. Early in the race we had some pretty big moments as well. "

Hey All,

I still don't think he drove like he would have if it were the last race of the year and he was behind. I think his chances were measured but he was totally frustrated since he usually has a really good car there.

Hey All,

In today's NASCAR Jimmy's my guy Panther right from the days when he was sleeping on Ron Hornaday's couch (like Kevin Harvick did) to today. Jimmy was wild when he raced motocross but ever since crashing his truck in the Baja 1000 and waiting for rescuers he takes no unnecessary risks. Drives smart and measured that's what I like about him - basically a Silver Fox mentality. he ain't the showiest but he gets it done. I don't think he was out of control - frustrated and disappointed yes but not out of control on Saturday night.

"JIMMIE JOHNSON: It's probably all of it rolled up into one. Had to take a lot of chances today to get the result that we did. I don't like putting myself in that situation. Almost lost the car a handful of times. So that frustration of being on pins and needles out there, trying to run as hard as you can, watching positions slip by and things like that, all just keeps adding up."

Panther if Kyle Busch were to say this and Jimmy Johnson were to say this (as he did) do you honestly think they mean anything close to the same thing? That is the difference - it's even suggested in the words "almost lost the car a handful of times" - Kyle probably does this in the first 3 laps! Words mean different things coming from different people - Jimmy was far more under control than these words suggest.

Hey All,

Panther it's not about believing me or not - but always putting what people say in the context of who they are - I never take words at face value. Politicians teach you that. :costumes:

Boys!!!!........

Let's settle this on the track........didn't you listen to Mike Helton!!!

Kevin :d

The 48 crew chief must have read this thread ... after the win at Martinsville he said on the radio, "now that's how you points race, win em all!"
