Hi folks!

I recently discovered the sim ORBITER 2010.
In this realistic space flight simulation for Windows you can launch spacecraft from the past to the future: A-4, Redstone, Gemini, Mercury, Apollo, Sputnik, Energia, MiR, Ariane and many more! The progamme is completly free and can be download here:

Here are some videos:

Great simulation!

I've only just discovered this myself and looking at the raw potential and mods for this I'm astounded it's a free programme. Just a thought, if any admins are reading, what about a section here for Orbiter mods and advice? I know a few members here use it and I would think it would interest nearly everyone here. Just a thought.

This has become a pretty elaborate sim. There are so many addons for it, that they have their own addons section at AVSIM.com.

I have yet to get the new 2010 version installed. Hopefully this weekend.

Their 'Delta' ship is brilliant. Makes you wish they have a real one.

Played it back in 2005....took a hard time just to get in a proper orbit and proper rendezvous with the Space Station.

Reading the manual a thousand times sometimes work......:bump:

Cheers.

At one time SOH had a sub-forum for Orbiter. It seems that Ralf and I were the only ones to contribute, glad to see others enjoying the new Orbiter 2910.

I have all four of the Orbiter programs, which began in 2003. Be sure and get Dan's music package for Orbiter and all the high resolution planets and moons. There is no Pluto in orbiter's main install, but a Pluto and Cheron are available as extras. be sure you know the proper folder and configuration Notepad files, so that you can get all in.

It's a terrific program and I use it for instruction to Astronomy students.

from about 2003 until 2006 we did have a forum, and months would roll by without a single post so we closed it when we had a big crash and it was never re-instated.

Probably there could be a "Space Sim" or "Space Game" section implemented?
I've found some other nice space sims, like EXOFlight, Celestia and NASA's Station Spacewalk Game ...

We do have the X3 Terran Conflict room. We are a bunch of space game nuts in there. You are welcome to post things in there on the Orbiter Sim.

Good idea Bill, I have not seen much action in the X3 roon recently and I am guilty myself of leaving it alone, perhaps changing the name to X3 & other Space sims or Space Sims etc.

I will be trying to get more active in X3 again shortly, now that summer is comin gto an end I should have the time, it has been crazy the past few months and I have hardly had the joystick on the desk, I gotta change that soon.
