Hi Dave,
I've been using SpadNext for quite some time now, in a complex setup:
- Warthog joystick OR CH Yoke
- Simped pedals
- dual Saitek throttle quadrants
- Saitek trim wheel
- Saitek radio panel
- Saitek multifunction panel
- Saitek switch panel
I have three generic profiles, single engine, dual engine, and four engines (mapping the two engines on either side as one). I use SpadNext for that, and do not configure FSUIPC in that regard at all.
The whole setup works like a charm, however, there are a few things to say about it:
- use a dedicated (no non-controller related units go there, expecially no usb sticks or drives) externally powered USB hub and connect all controllers / panels to it. For all the other external units I have a second hub. If possible, leave the controller hub alone and
don't unplug the hub or the units while the computer is running. This can throw off the usb config and make a bloody mess out of everything. Chances are high that you loose your complete mapping and controller config in the sim doing so.
- with some aircraft, expecially with xml driven gauges or switches which are embedded in a more complex background, the panels (switches and lights / readouts) won't work. I don't know if there are ways to make it work, since there's the fall back to "normal" operation and it doesn't bother me too much.
Re SpadNext not finding aircraft, where do you install your aircraft? Do you see a pattern of aircraft found / not found depending on specific aircraft installation locations? Did you try to run SpadNext as admin ? Anyway, if it is somehow messed up, you could of course uninstall it completely and do a fresh install with the latest version.
On my setup I never experienced such a problem, but I have all my aircraft in the default p3d root simobject folder (doing it the old way).
If you think this is a definite SpadNext problem, you also could take it to their forums, which seem to be frequented:

Hope that helps!
