Another thread has been showing an excellent model of the Whirlwind in development but may not be released any time soon, nor for FSX. There is another one though. . .built by Kazunori Ito, had several updates by Lionheart, some nice repaints and a VC upgrade by yours truly. A nice flier.

Ah well, a bit of browsing and I found another. . .and with all due respect to Ito San and his masterpieces over the years. . .this one is even better and Native FSX. You can find it in the Warbirds Library.

Lovely aircraft.

The Whirlwind was a very interesting fighter, very much the story of what might have been. If it hadn't been for ongoing problems with both the Rolls-Royce Kestral engines (later renamed Peregrine) and undercarriage it may well have been available in numbers to the RAF in the Battle of Britain.

Imagine just how devastating the Whirlwind would have been with those 4 canon against the thin skinned Luftwaffe bombers.
