Spitfire MkXIVc RM656 DL-F, Captain Jean Maridor FAFL, No.91 (Nigeria) Sqn RAF. Capt Maridor was killed on 3rd August 1944 while attacking a V1 which was about to fall on the military hospital based in Benenden School, Benenden, Kent. To ensure the bomb's destruction, Maridor opened fire from very short range, and was killed by the ensuing explosion.
