Spitfire PL965

Bomber_12th

SOH-CM-2025
Some screenshots of a new repaint by DaveQ available in the SOH downloads for the RealAir Spitfire, depicting Peter Teichman's PR Spitfire Mk.XI. Thank you very much for this repaint, Dave, as I had been dreaming of having a repaint of this one for this model for quite some time. Although, as you say, it isn't a perfect fit, it does come very close to looking the part (especially considering that, at this time, the real aircraft continues to sport a fighter-type windscreen, rather than the correct wrap-around windscreen) and the model looks absolutely brilliant in this color scheme.

(Peter Teichman currently has a Spitfire Mk.IX (PT879) under restoration to airworthy, which saw combat service with the Soviet AF during WWII - it should hopefully be painted in its original Russian markings when completed.)

Nice Pics there.

After watching the Youtube video (BBC Documentary) on the MH434, I kinda wish there was a repaint of her.

http://www.mh434.com/history/index.html

Ah, but there is!

Two actually - one as she was painted after her rebuild in 1995, and one in her current 222 sqn scheme.

While both aren't perfect in terms of detail when compared to the real thing, they are very good repaints, and nice to have.

I can't remember where I downloaded them (I'm sure one was from the SoH library), but the files are FSX_RealAir_Spitfire_IX_RAF_MH434.zip by Barry Vandenakker (Barvan40 on SoH), and RealAir_Spitfire_IX_2007.zip by Gus Carrick (letsgetrowdy on SoH).

The PL965 repaint looks very nice btw.

[Edit] Just checked the library, and both files are there.

Cheers

Paul

Amazing! BTW, is this the original Pilot texture? It looks different than the original.

I'll have to add that paint to my collection :salute:

I did my own MH434 paint a while back so that's at least 3 paints of that one :icon_lol:
Saw the real deal at Flying Legends at the weekend:jump:

Thanks for posting this John, much appreciated. Someone who works on the aircraft contacted me and asked me for it. While you can have the extended fine and rudder, and you don't see the cannon from the vc, you can't delete them from the exterior model. I was quite pleased with the cameras though - owes much to working on the recce Mustang...!

DVJ, the pilot texture is the one that can also be found on the same page I linked to above, simply titled "RealAir Spitfire XIV Pilot", that was done by Bob Rivera (re-uploaded by NMG): http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforu...&literal=1&search=Spitfire&childcats=1&page=3

Definitely helps make the pilot look a lot less 'ghostly'.

The original pilot was in fact a zombie. With ghastly staring eyes.

Bob's is a crazy. With staring eyes. And a very bad fake tan.

Mine just has a very bad fake tan....

I had a peep in this thread, and suddenly realised I knew this aircraft!

I photographed her at Shuttleworth a few weeks back....

Lovely repaint indeed. One which I'll be downloading asap :salute:

Very nice photos, PrivateCustard! She's got a very well documented wartime history, and some background information about the aircraft can be read here, at the Hangar 11 page: http://hangar11.co.uk/spitfire.html

Furthermore, here is a very nice photo gallery: http://hangar11.co.uk/spitgallery.html And some great display videos (including in-cockpit) can be seen here: http://hangar11.co.uk/videos.html

For the past couple years now, the aircraft has been painted in the exact color scheme it sported during WWII - extremely well researched and executed. It is also the only Spitfire flying today that is powered by its original wartime service engine.

Awesome aircraft the Spitfire. There is a Spit in the works for DCS FSX and P3d, i am currently developing it with other guys. it is a mark 9 and will release further info later.
