Spitfire wanted!

If you are looking for a freebe if I recall correstly all of YAS models work very well in FS9, these are very nice with lots of skins.

I've got the AH Spitfires and love them. My favorite though is the late war PR Mk XIX. I also like the Paul Rebuffat freeware ones and fly them too.

I don't have the Plane Designs Mk XVI, but if Bradburger recommends it, I'll probably have to get it. Brad knows his Spitfires. For those that don't know, the Mk XVI is basically a Mk IX with a US built Packard Merlin.

thanks, Motormouse

Pete,
thanks very much for your "input" - now I know it should be as simple as everyone said, but that's no guarantee it'll work for me !!!

I happen to be the happy owner of:
AH spifire pack
A2A MKI
RAS Mk XIV
(...) but when I feel I want to get the real thing I jump into my RAS Mk XIV although this not my favorite Mk.

Same goes for me! :ernae:
And because both (A2A Mk.I and RAS Mk.XIV) are lacking a appropriate 2D panel, I allowed myself to build my own 2D-widescreen, using a screenshot of the A2A's Mk.I VC as base for a background bmp... :jump:

Markus.

Mine would be another vote for the RealAir Mk.XIV and Plane Designs Mk.XVI, with the narrow vote going to the latter, despite the fact that on my system the automatic boost doesn't automatically kick in for some odd reason so I suddenly loose power as I approach 16,000ft. The "tricky" handling accurately reflects the real-life torque problems that became apparant in the later, big engine later Spitfire models and which were only partially solved with the Contra-Prop developments.

As for the lack of further development, earlier correspondance with the author (who has an encyclopedic knowlege of Spits) suggests that it was rampant piracy of the first release that resulted in the cessation of further development, which is a great shame.

Bonjour Markus,

Have you downloaded your homebrew A2A 2D panel somewhere ? I could really do with your option which seems quite good, BTW...:applause:

Thank you,
Fleurdelys

Bonjour, Fleurdelys!

No, that's not downloaded. I did a screenshot of the VC panel view, turned it into a appropriate BMP (1680x1050 px, "black" windows) and mounted my 'custom' gauges using FSPS.
There is a quite wild bunch of gauges: The RMI is taken from the L-1649 Connie, Radios and Autopilot came from the DH Dove, engine gauges (boost, RPM etc.) from various Spitfires and Hurricanes.
Because the screenshoot panel-BMP is not 'mine' (one could argue if it turned into mine though it originally was created by A2A...), I'm not able to upload it for legal reasons.

But for a more-or-less skilled PaintShop user, it's not too hard to create a BMP on his own.

Salutations,
Markus.
