• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

SSW delayed activation keys

SSW1

Members +
Unfortunately, it happens more and more often that our users complain that they did not receive the activation key even after 2 days they have requested it.
Almost always our checks indicate that the key has been sent regularly, but more and more often the mail providers block the attachment without notifying the recipient or the sender.
The reason for the refusal is often in the filters that the providers insert into their software, generic and often badly configured.
It is time for users to complain to the providers and better configure their e-mail accounts but unfortunately they increasingly blame us for blame we do not have.
We suggest to our users that experience an exaggerated delay in receiving the activation keys to open a ticket on our help desk, we will solve the problem in a very short time-
Greetings and merry Xmas greetings

We have recently updated the system of shipping activation keys that should solve problems with mail servers that reject our attachments.
Now we no longer attach the keys directly in the mail but rather a text file containing instructions for inserting the activation key into the window registry, the textual form should guarantee that the mail provider will accept it.
The instructions are read by a small program (shown in the figure) that can be downloaded by the user and whose download link is contained in the mail itself.
The user must download and run the program, very small, about 400 KB, open the text file received and activate the key.
So far the tests conducted on about 30 users have been successful.
We hope this will help alleviate the pains of our users.
Happy New Year

(Finally) bought the F-104G an hour or so ago. Waiting for the activation key. I hope the e-mail clears up when and where the liveries can be downloaded.

By the way:
There should be a message or statement in the activation key request tool (and in the message box beforehand) that clearly indicates requesting a key voids the right to obtain a refund as a last warning.

By the way 2:
Does the copy protection of the Starfighter check any installation locations and the package integrity in any way?

I want to install as mucn of the F-104 outside of the main FSX folder as I can. From what I can gather, I'll have to change the F-104's dll.xml and exe.xml entries, the panel.cfg, sound gauge .ini file and possibly the activation .reg file if it contains a path. And I want to thin out the livery selection to save on disk space.

You can definitely tinker with the liverie folders. I've thinned considerably and added my own without issue. Ive also redone VC textures. AFAIK, the package integrity is against the .mdl files. You can't touch those. I tried to reduce the model radius of the exterior mdl and broke it. I don't think the path is checked, but it's tricky to move around because oh the way they mapped the textures. Good luck!

Registration mail has arrived and the new activation tool worked as advertised.

And finally found the link to the liveries on the FRF-104G product page. Very easy to overlook.

Are you willing to share those Brian?

They're for the 'S' and honestly, they're not very exciting. A very early effort on my part. If you're really interested, I can dig them up (they were done in FSX, which I've since uninstalled, but should still be able to put my hands on them in a back-up). Let me know.

I have the G so they may not fit. They have made good progress in that respect in their latest models like the Tonka, Harrier and F-84 but I think that the Zipper is a bit less. Still good but just not on par with the others.
