SSW F84-F Thunderstreak ("The Hog") ready for the sky.

TBH I haven't got the plane yet, but I'm very tempted:indecisiveness:. I would love to see these, which might pull me across the line:

Belgian AF, 10th FBW, 27th Sqn, "FU-149":

Netherlands AF, 312th Sqn (aluminium). There are hardly any good images available of Dutch F-84F's in blank/aluminium colours, but noseband and wingtips are blue (the colour of 312 Sqn). The rudder is striped with 7 red stripes and 6 (slightly wider) white stripes (colours of Volkel AB). Top and bottom stripes are red, so (from top to bottom) red - white - red - white - red- white - red - white - red - white - red - white - red.

Turkey AF would be nice, since there doesn't seem to be one in the package AFAIK (not necessarily this livery):

Ubuntu Models

Hi Alessandro,

What are the "Ubuntu" models used for (what is their purpose)? I love the Solo aircraft - but don't understand if I need the Ubuntu versions.

Really looking forward to the new textures. Another MAP supplied aircraft that was used my MANY other air forces (including Italy) was the F-86D/K. This would seem a good future choice for SSW. The F-86D has never been modeled well (with a VC etc.).

Best regards,

Bill

Hi Bill,
Ubuntu means "Optimized Multiplayer models"..."ubuntu" is translated with "All togheter" in the Linux world (and in SSW we are Linux guys...most of us). There are some little adjustment for multiplayer purpose, such textures with no specular or bumps (but it is not easy to see the difference with the "Solo" models), less polys (just for some items)....with Ubuntu models you can be in a MP sessions with about 20 SSW F84 Ubuntu models without a single frame lost (and in SSW we are MP fans and we fly togheter in Virtual squadron with more of 20 Players in a sessions) ;)

Dumonceau

Do you mean this one??

F-84F RBAF 1.jpg

Available here. 53-6768, an F-84F-66-RE of the Belgian Air Force, FU-123 that served with the 10th Wing at Kline Brogel but when withdrawn in 1972, appears to have been serving with the 1st Sqdn. at Florennes, because it bears the Scottish thistle emblem of that unit. Subsequently it was preserved at Savigny-lis-Beaune Museum in France though it no longer appears to be there. It may be the F-84F at the Musée Européen de l'Aviation de Chasse at Ancone in France, which is claimed to be FU-123 only with a different USAF serial.

The choice is yours.....:encouragement:!

can't get into forum

Hi, I can get on the website with my log-in info sent when I bought the Hog, back in Dec, 2013. However, I can't get into the forums. Get an error notice saying I am not registered, and there is no registration button/link.

Any help?
Thanks
Don

Alessandro, thank you very much for considering the liveries I requested:encouragement:. I've found a better pic of the Dutch AF Streak "DU-9" of 312th Sqn (sorry for the small size). Maybe this is of some use to you.

DU9_2.jpg

You can see the blue band over the nose and (vaguely) wingtips. Panel on the spine is black. From this pic you cannot tell the colour of the antiglare shield on the nose; I assume it was olive green. Notice how the white stripes on the rudder are slightly bigger than the red ones. Oddly enough, the Dutch flag on the tail has the white portion bigger than the red and blue portions. Several F-84F's were coded "DU-9" (DU being the code letters for 312th Sqn). Probably the first of them was (USAF-)serialled 53-6924 aka P-277 (Dutch serial). The USAF serial was painted in black above the red portion of the flag, with the Dutch serial painted in the same colour beneath the blue portion of the flag (similar to the Dutch 314th Sqn aircraft that's already in the package, the only difference being that the Dutch serial was painted in the same small font as the USAF-serial).

Looks good? ;)

It looks absolutely stunning, Alessandro:applause:. "Small" detail, but I don't know if the texture mapping would allow that: the blue band goes all around the nose. In other words, you need to extend the blue band over the nose (if that's possible). If not, I'm more than happy to take it as it is:engel016:. One more thing if I may:cower: (because I can't tell from the pic); back in the 1950s, Dutch aircraft had the roundel on both wings (so two roundels on the lower wing and two on the upper).

Looks like I'm going to have to spend some cash pretty soon:biggrin-new:.

Lawman,
I made a search around net,and I can confirm you that the nose blue paint is not extended all over the nose. an exemple is posted down here. Many pictures of silver overall finishing have red/yellow/blue strips just finishing like these below. For the roundels, both wings have upper and lower ones.
Thank you very much for your help and suggestions!
/Alessandro
