Many years ago there was an alternate file that was available that had many more stars then the original xml file. Does anyone have this file. Should be larger than the original.

Must be more than one. I found a star.xml (on my old xp computer) with over 9000 stars. I will upload shortly. Thanks for this!!!!
here you are as promised. I will compare these to see if planets are included in the larger file.
A few years ago I was experimenting with stars rendering and made a file with 87K+ stars ! 
Can't even recall the source, it was some online catalogue obviously.
Of course it is an overkill and I doubt most of those will even be visible in reality and in game, but I was experimenting with HDR rendering in DX11 back then (which never got anywhere).
Planets are not included here, because they have proper movement which should be calculated separately. I don't remember whether CFS3 does that or not.
