Start-up Effect File for Manfred's C-117

MZee1960

SOH-CM-2023
A while back, I came across a startup effect for Manfred's beautiful C-47, named 'fx_Cranky_DC3_TFF' which also came with a 'red flame' texture file. I believe both were included in one of the earlier versions of the C-47 by Manfred and Co. The startup effect consisted of a 'red flame' briefly shooting out of the engine exhaust, followed by a short period of 'bluish' smoke. I tried this effect with the C-117, but no joy. Somehow the location of the flame and smoke effect did not line up with the location of the exhaust tips of the C-117. Is there any method by which this startup effect can be better 'lined up' in the C-117 case so it appears in the correct place ? Using [smokesystem] coordinates seems to only work for contrails but not for this startup effect. No big deal, just wondering.

Here's the effect shown on the C-47 beauty (just milliseconds after the red flames appeared) :

Yes It Can But...

I know that it can be done but you have to know how to edit the effects file. There is an SDK for this that I used for Effects when I created NAS Alameda but that was a couple years ago. I had wav files play the national anthem in the morning timed exactly to 0800 in California and "Retreat" played at sunset according the sunset charts for each month talk about me being crazy LOL. So yes it can but unless you want to take the time you'll have to talk someone into it for you.

Here's 2 shots of the effect close up on Manfred and Co's C-47. Unfortunately editing effects files and working with SDK is quite foreign to me.
