Static corsairs

Mission Accomplished, Thanks to Marks kind permission to use the F4U models from the Soloman Islands Scenery pack (Thank you once more Mark) I have put together a F4U deck park for use with Colin Glendinnings Essex class carriers. Unlike the Banshee's I have had to limit the Parked A/C objects to rows of 4 which gives people the opportunity of adjusting the layout to how ever many row's of aircraft they may want to appear on the deck at any one time. I'm working on a system where people will be able to select what models they want to appear and where by adding or removing entries in the ai Carriers file. The default configurations I have in mind will include full 'Launch' and 'Recover' layouts. Still a little way to go yet but I have almost finished the Launch layout. Watch this space...

A request: could you share your CV-32 and CV-45 deck textures with the yellow numbers? I want to do some re-decorating! Like the formation you have with both and one recovery and the other launch. I also got the HUP to fly as a guard. Great Korea carrier ops potential here.

Thank you very much, There's a little bit of a frame hit when all are displayed at once but nothing severe. I'm not sure about posting the Yellow deck numbers as its Still the late Colin Glendinning's textures underneath but I shall PM Rami and see what he says about it. It maybe acceptable as long as i credit Colin for the original work. I could do with a paint kit for the Corsairs as the textures I used were from a Cfs2 model I had and aren't my work. I only used them for test purposes. Both configurations are complete now although I would really like to add one of these NC or willy's units.

Great work! There are Willys ijn the Solomon package, and I have a few which I hve not released yet. They would need to be retextured to yellow, though.
Let me know if you need anything.

Cheers,
Mark

I was sure I'd seen some there too:encouragement: They'll be better Hooky as I'm sure they'll have less polys;)

Having some fund cloning the Essex class (Boxer and Valley Forge) models that Lazarus converted for FSX (here in the SOH Library) from Colin's originals (see link). I now have a 1944 CV-11 Intrepid to play with. There are quite a few others you can make up if you wish.

Which oiler is that to the left of the carrier? It doesn't look like anything I have on my virtual seas!!

I have it sailing with a British fleet of warships (Flying Stations stuff) but I think it may be a default ship: VEH_water_tanker03_sm

Hello Mate:wavey:

Yeah.. I use tanker3 myself in the absence of anything else suitable. In fact.. I dragged it out of the default library.. renamed it and changed the GUID. The black circle on the funnel was then dismissed and bob's your uncle:biggrin-new: I did wonder if it was that model but wasn't sure. You've captured it at it's very best angle:encouragement:

Cheers;-)

Cheers

Is it because of the three wheeled ac-tug?
If you can't contact GB or get no reply (I think he might not be active anymore) I could step in and modify one of my jeep series models:

Cheers,
Mark

Thanks Mark I'll let you know I did have some issues extracting some of your willy's models from the bgl files that's why I went for Gary's model. But I'll have another look when I get home

Cheers

Mark I've just sent you a PM mate I think I would like to take up your kind offer of using your Jeeps

Hello Hooky!

Listen - these are awesome - no debating. Incredible amount of work. Can't wait to try them when I'm home next.

Question/suggestion, though:

Any chance of a static grouping that allows straight through traffic? As in, a just few ranged fore and aft of the island, on the stbd side? That way, you can launch and recover from the same carrier. Esp during TnG / trap training, it'd be ideal to recover, taxi to cat, launch, pattern, recover, repeat.

It's not as eye-stopping as the massive numbers as they are now, but for "practical" use, it might be a compromise between a crowded but otherwise not fully useable deck, or a completely bare deck, which is what we had prior to your excellent effort.

I hope you're not offended in my suggesting - I just think folks who actually do the naval ops (vs just nice screens) will get more use out of them - and for all the work you've done, they deserved to get used!

Thanks, kind sir,

DL

Hi DL

No, Not offended at all sir, I'm glad you bought it up actually I'm currently working on a variety of 'Straight through' configurations for both Sicily here and the Essex class once I have found a configuration I'm happy with (and that's reasonably realistic/Believable) then there shall be another release. The only reason one wasn't included with the original Essex set was mainly down to time (even though it would have taken far less time to make given the fewer models) But between work and other things I didn't want to spend too much longer tweaking before release, or else it would have potentially lingered on my Hard Drive forever, never to see the light of day. Hopefully I should have time to look into it over the weekend.

Thanks

Hooky
