• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

  • Server side Maintenance is done. We still have an update to the forum software to run but that one will have to wait for a better time.

In the absence of any other announcements:

For those who are new to SOH, or have not been here for awhile.....

- The server died a couple of weeks ago.
- It has been replaced.
- The staff is uploading the backup files as this is typed.
- Currently CFS2 downloads from before the crash are not available.
- Some of us can upload Attachments to posts, some cannot.
- Some of us can post ZIPs for download, some cannot.
- In short, we're pretty much inop for the present.
- CFS2 is 'the basement', the red-headed stepchild of SOH, so we're last
to get the fix.

Hmmm . . .

I am holding off uploading anything new until the old stuff is available again. I hope I don;t have to upload all the missing stuff again. I am really strapped for time to do anything with a brand-new baby in the house . . .

Nice summary TR, although we really do get a little more respect than intoned. Looks like the server replacement drive was a success so now it's just a matter of time to get things running again.

Thanks to all who contributed and we'll slowly work out what was lost and what was recovered.

For those of you wondering, I'm still deployed, but I have some conectivity, but I'm really strapped for time. Given that, I'm trying to cover down for Rami in his absence. Looks like were all getting frequent flyer's miles!
 
I guess we'll all just have to be on our best behavior. Guys ... you all know what Mom always told us ... so let's not cause too much trouble ... besides ... it's not like nobody's ever comin' back.:kilroy:

Just checking in, guys. I am currently staying in a hotel formerly reserved for former heads of state, just up the street from the Hapsburg summer palace in Vienna.

One of my students asked a question on education that sparked a debate in the Austrian Parliament. That was extremely interesting, and cool! :wavey:

...is back in business as far as downloads are concerned. Maybe we're next. :running:
 
CFS2 Downloads...

...are partially restored, and it appears that they're well on their way to being completed. :ernae: :jump:

I still can't load attachments to posts....maybe by Monday. :icon34:

Download Restoration for CFS2...

....seems to have bogged-down with the Ships category. Maybe later this week we'll have it all back. :USA-flag:
