Steven Myers Fleet 2 for FS2002

Has anyone done an update of this plane for FS2004? The plane is very nice, nice animations, very nice VC...but it won't start or run without a good bit of throttle advance.

For those who don't have it, look for Fleet2.zip on Flightsim.com. Well worth having in your vintage collection.

Hi Obio.
The fleet 2 is a great airplane with a ton of character.
Re updates, check out meteor.zip at flightsim.com by Karl Bauer.
It is the Fleet 2 packaged as a repaint of an Austrian Phoenix Meteor with the original authors permission.
Not sure on what config updates it contains although there is a seperate config file for FS2002 included so I think that some adjustments were made to suit FS2004 although the author of the package states that he did not alter the flying characteristics of the Fleet at all.
Comes with a nice silver texture abd a different 2D panel.
Also have a look at goldwing.zip and clubman.zip both by Kalr Bauer both very nice repaints.
The Golden Wings fleet 2 (goldwing.zip) is particularly striking.
Easiest way is to just type meteor into flightsim.com's search function and scroll down past the lovely classic British twin jets to find the files for the fleet 2 together on the second page.
I found the meteor before I found the original Fleet2 so I ended up adding the new textures with some of the originals and put the fleet 2D panel back in place to match the VC.

Concerning the start-up & idle issue

[GeneralEngineData]
engine_type=0
Engine.0=4.167, 0.000, 0.000
fuel_flow_scalar=1.000
min_throttle_limit=0.000000 <---change to 0.200000

lol Obio, I think I found someone worse than me when it comes to an attention span with all these aircraft ;). It's fun though. :bump:

Roger,

Yep, found the Davis....love that 5-jug engine sticking out in the breeze. The sound pack from the Kinner Sport Wing (can't remember who did it) is perfect for the Davis by the way.

OLe Boy,

Thanks for the info on the min throttle settings.

Nambus,

Thanks for the tip on the Meteor packages. Will hit Flightsim and grab them.

LouP,

My wife says I have AADD (Adult Attention Deficient Disorder) and a touch of hyper-activity and should be on some sort of medication. I would say LOL, but she is serious.

I like that paint. Mr. Louis did some fine work. I always enjoy his creativity. Where can I find that one?

And OBIO,

Thanks for the info on the Sport Wing. Whoever did the sounds made a nice sound pack

For the exhaust flame I've attached a zip with the aircraft.cfg (for the lights section) and the fx file.

I found a very nice XLM gauge and used it to activate the exhaust effects on the Fleet 2. No longer will you have to turn the lights on to have exhaust effects. I need to contact the maker of the gauge and get his permission to repackage it....within the gauge coding itself it says that it can be used for freeware uses only..but I still want to get his okay to package it up in a stand alone folder for use across a number of piston powered aircraft, and to be honest, I'm not sure which plane it came with (though I do have a good idea but not totally positive).

I'm going out on a limb with this attachment, as I am including a set of gauges that I am not totally sure who did them. Within the gauge coding, as part of the header, it states that these gauges can be used for freeware use...and since I am not charging for this..it is thereby freeware and I am sticking to that part of the limitations. I believe that these gauges are most likely from Roger Dial's Reno Racer Mustang originally, but I have not downloaded that plane, so they were probably bundled with another plane that I had downloaded and installed at some point.

Anyhow, here's a revised light section, a line to add to the Fleet 2's VC section in the panel.cfg and the guages...along with a copy of the exhaust effect that Roger attached earlier in this thread.

Save the attachment to your system, rename it to remove the .txt from the end, unzip the resulting zip file and plane the Reno_FX folder in your gauges folder, the effect file in your effects folder and copy and paste the needed lines into your aircraft.cfg and panel.cfg file.
