Stop Hiding. Start Living!

How many of those who developed the aversion did so after numerous ( I can't remember my third...) shots of cheap (college student prices) tequila hammered down as fast as they could be poured in a boisterous party environment - probably after a few beers early on....

Hangovers usually come, not from the drink itself, but the huge slug of sugar in the mix combined with the alcohol. On the other hand, symptoms of alcohol poisoning can be similar but are due to the quantity of alcohol consumed ( and can be fatal - or you might just wish you could die).

Then again, there's a vast difference between cheap hooch and good... when we're young, the price tag usually scores over the quality so we banged back enough to kill the taste and paid for it in the morning - or all night long and again in the morning.

Me? I can enjoy a (or a few) good sips of Agave nectar but put me within ten feet of a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and you'd better be wearing a raincoat! :barf:(Same cause... once upon a time too many). Hmmm... the tequila's more fun too!

As with any liquor "the more you pay the better you will like it". I know I hated even the taste of tequila when I was younger but got "converted" by a young lady who had an uncle in Mexico. He runs (ran?) one of those small, very small, distilleries that make tequila the very old fashioned way. Once a year she would pay a visit to aunt and uncle (not for the purpose of getting tequila, by the way) and come back with a 10th bottle size of really fine tequila. Was absolutely none of that sorta kerosine taste and there wasn't nearly enough to get drunk after passing it around the office. (These were different times.) Couldn't drink at the office any more, not politically correct. Man, that stuff was smooth, good tasting and all round good drinks. :medals: :icon29:

Down here we call it "To-kill-ya"! :icon_lol:

Last time I did a round of Jose Cuervo was in 1975. I was a party mongrel. I walked cleaned through a glass coffee table with my hiking boots. Thing is nobody noticed until the next morning. College kids, couldn't handle their liqueur! :icon_lol:

As mentioned in a previous thread, I LIKE BEER! :icon29::ernae:

The last time I drank the stuff was the day one of my best friends died in a RF-4C crash. Last thing I remember was lying on the bed with my feet on the floor. The ceiling was going round and round...

The next morning less than a third of the bottle remained. Since the top was off, guess I forgot to put it back on, I figured the stuff had evaporated. :)

The Irish go to all that trouble to make "Squeeze"! Heck, the winos here about just use some Sterno!

For the record, when the body enzymes counter-react with methanol, the byproduct is formaldehyde. Some if you drink enough Poitin or Squeeze, you could literally embalmed yourself! :pop4:

Only drank it the once....lost about 8 hours from my life, where I can't recollect what happened.....but it seemed like a good idea at the time! :isadizzy::icon_lol:
