Strange control problem

Can anyone make any suggestions regarding a small problem that I seem to have developed? I have a switch on my Saitek X52 Pro assigned to extend/retract the undercarriage and it has always worked fine up until today. Now when I use it nothing happens except for the noise of the undercarriage retracting, i.e. hydraulic noise.
I have checked in the control profiler and it recognises when the button is pressed and it is still assigned in FSX controls. Another bizarre thing is that all the other buttons that I have assigned still function correctly.
I have reinstalled the Saitek drivers and I have no idea what else to do. The undercarriage still retracts if I press the ‘G’ key
Anyone got any ideas? :help:

I saw this happen when i set my realism settings to aircraft stress causes damage and i then tried to raise the gear after overspeeding, same controller different switch and the sound still played , one possibility .

Hi Chuck,
Thanks for the suggestion; I’ll give that a look, although I haven’t knowingly changed that setting. Another strange anomaly is that I also have a Saitek Yoke with the equivalent button programmed for the undercarriage and that still works OK.

You haven't inadvertently changed the joystick mode have you (rotating knob on the right hand side of the top of the stick) I did that once and it took me ages to realise why nothing was working properly.

Check the wires in the back of the stick and throttle, I'm on my second Pro due to the socket and wire becoming worn on each side meaning intermittent signals were being sent and received causing all sorts of problems. It's starting to happen on my second stick too. A poor design!

Load a profile, open Notepad, press the "gear" button
and see if a "G" is printed.

If so, it's being sent to FS. If not, it's a controller issue.

Hi,
Thanks for your replies. I haven’t changed my joystick mode, as I set my profiles in the FSX controller menu (I don’t like the Saitek profiling software, I’m of the opinion that the fewer things running on my FSX computer the better)
.
When I check on the controller calibration tab in FSX button presses light up the relevant lights suggesting that the stick is communicating with the computer.

I an not so sure about the build quality of the Saitek products, they are fine when new but I am also on my second X52 stick, the last one expired before it’s guarantee ran out thankfully, and support on their forum is a little hit and miss.
