Strange CSF-ETO initialization issue

Hi,

My CSF-ETO was working flawlessly. Then one evening I initialized via the same shortcut, chose era 2 for the BoB missions I am currently flying, hit enter, and nothing happened.

I looked in the Task Manager, and could see CFS3*32 in the active processes (running Win7 x64), but not listed in the applications. I quite the process and exited task Manager, then reinitialized and all was well.

Now I have to do this "workaround" every single time. By itself it is only a PITA annoyance, but was wondering if anyone has experienced this and whether it can be solved short of a complete reinstall.

Also, is it an indication of some greater instability???

Thanks for any replies...

I was having the same trouble as you have. WIN7 / 64bit seems to be quite unstable on old 32bit apps (at least for me). Not only CFS3 and its variants, but a whole lot of other games act the same. They work perfect, next time I restart the computer, I could'nt even fire them up. Sometimes I see rundll32.exe going crazy in the taskmanager, taking up to 50% CPU power.

Must be a driver issue on sound or graphic, but I didn't find newer drivers so far.

In the end, I made it dualboot with WIN XP 32bit and everything is fine now.

Well, I'm not having any issues with other sims at all, and in fact have been simming quite nicely on old Lucas Arts X-wing/Tie fighter games with my 6-year old son. They're made for Win95, so I'm pretty impressed with that compatibility!!!

The only thing that may have changed before this issue was I installed that really big BoB single mission pack available at that other site (name escapes me).

Have not seen any rundll problems, but will keep an eye out. I'll also look into my Process Lasso startup & game mode settings, but that utility has been rock solid for months.

Anyone else?
