First off, let say how great this mod is and the future it holds. !!! KUDOS !!! to all those involved in its development.
I've been trying to install to C:\ primary. Everything goes as planned and when I run Pearl or Wake, all is fine; however, when I run Midway, it either ctds after the map or starts with a F3 in the air and then ctds.
Let me digress for a second. I've also done a "vanilla" install as per the instructions with only the 7 uisels needing editing and I have no problems what so ever. Pearl, Wake and Midway all run just fine without a glitch.
Has anyone else encountered this? I'm just curious. I'd prefer to have PTO_RS as a primary directory, but I can live with it buried in Program Files. It just bugging me that I can't see what's wrong.

ps: the backup instructions have proved very valuable in my case!
Almccoyjr,
Here we go.
You MUST follow all install instructions EXACTLY.
Please bear with me. There is method to my madness.
1. First of all, a fully updated vanilla copy of CFS3 must be in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games. Simply copy your original to this location.
2. Aim the CFS3 PTO RS Part 1 installer at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games and run it.
3. After Part 1 is installed, you can blow away the vanilla copy of CFS3 you put in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games.
4. Now you can move CFS3 PTO Rising Sun to wherever you want it.
5. Finish installing PTO RS to the new location, and make sure you run the Multicfs3.exe, even if you have to go into the CFS3 PTO Rising Sun main game folder to do it.
NOTE: DO NOT run any desktop icons at this time.
7. Go into the CFS3 PTO Rising Sun main game folder and run the cfs3.exe from in there. Fly once and then shut down normally.
8. Now for tricky part. You need to know where your Application Data (AppData in Vista and Win 7) folder is. When you run the Part 8 installer, you MUST aim it at the CFS3 PTO Rising Sun________ folder that is now in there. Now run the Part 8 uisel installer.
9. Do you know where your AppData folder is for Combat Flight Simulator 3?
Try looking in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft.
The AppData folder for stock CFS3 should show as a folder named Combat Flight Simulator 3.0 in there.
If you ran MultiCFS3 for PTO Rising Sun, then you should also have a folder in there named CFS3 PTO Rising Sun________.
You will probably need to aim the Part 8 installer at C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\CFS3 PTO Rising Sun______.
Username=your name.
If you can find where your Combat Flight Simulator 3.0 folder is in AppData, you're there.
After you run the Part 8 installer to the location where your CFS3 PTO Rising Sun________ AppData folder is located (it has to be aimed INTO the CFS3 PTO Rising Sun________ folder in AppData), go into the CFS4 PTO Rising Sun main game folder, and look for the Rising_Sun_Theater_Selector.bat file.
Make a backup copy in another location outside the main game folder.
Right-click on it and choose Properties.
UN-check the Read Only box.
Click Apply and OK.
Right-click on it again and choose Edit.
Scroll down until you see this:
:SINO
CD "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\CFS3 PTO Rising Sun______"
As I have mentioned above once you have found the correction of your AppData folder, you should see something like this: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\CFS3 PTO Rising Sun______.
Simply copy and paste that location to between the quotes in :SINO
CD "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\CFS3 PTO Rising Sun______"
There are six more lines on down under the one that starts with :Sino.
Copy that location to all of them the same way you did to :Sino.
Save and close.
Right-click on Rising_Sun_Theater_Selector.bat file again, choose Properties, check the Read Only box, and clikc Apply and then OK.
For Win 7, you will also need to do this:
