Stupid question

Question: if you want to use a livery created by one of our fine repainters👏, do you have to download the aircraft to your own harddrive?

yes - you can't use repaints on AI aircraft in MSFS as you can in DCS - repaints can only be used on aircraft you have purchased, or freeware you have acquired, and installed to your PC

Honestly, I'm not sure. My guess is that, if you own an airplane, even if it is in the cloud and not downloaded, you can still use the repaint. You will only download the plane when you select that plane and repaint.

Personally, I plan on downloading everything I own when installing the sim. If there are updates, good, I'll download them again. It will bloat my disk, but I'd rather save bandwidth for the gaming experience.

Call me old school, but I'm not convinced by the streaming stuff. M$ will have to convince me.

My guess is the plane can be in the cloud if it’s on Marketplace and you can still use a repaint. If it’s from SimMarket, OrbX, etc you will obviously need a local copy.

From all the pieces I've gathered, if you're flying the plane, then repaints in your Community folder will work because you're temporarily downloading a copy of the plane to your Official folder with which the repaint can be paired.

I'm trying to work on my grammar...

Thanks everybody for your feedback(y). I guess we'll have to wait and see;). I've pre-ordered, but will not install on day one.
