• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

subscription

On the upside, you can try it for $5. Initial reports are that the release is buggy/unperformant, so that could save some money.

$120 is seriously nuts, unless they both get the issues ironed out and also release all of the promised variants. In which case it’ll just be kinda nuts

Adobe was one of the first companies to initiate this subscription scam business model and that was the last time they ever got a dime from me despite being a Photoshop and Illustrator user since v1.0.0 in both cases! I have Photoshop CS4, Illustrator CS3 and Lightroom v5.7.1 and they are all stand-alone and cost me nothing to use as I bought them outright years ago! All are way more powerful than I will ever use now that I am retired and the new versions have nothing extra that I would be willing to pay for!

Rent it for more than two years and you've just thrown money out the window. I will be shocked if they get much movement at all on that business model. For their product to be worth $120, it would need to be twice as good as what PMDG produces, and as I understand things, that would be pretty danged hard to do!

On the other hand...looking at the contents of my hanger a $5 monthly subscription would have saved me a LOT of money.
Most of them I've only flown for the first month or so, some of them for the first day :(
Due to the CSS delay and release debacle put my pennies into the PMDG 777F and it's a pleasure to fly in all respects.
Not the same thing of course and when the CSS is running OK (especially in VR) and I have 30 clear days I will try my $5.
If you bought all 3 PMDG 777s however that would cost a lot more than $120.
Still you would have to be very sure you want it, and that CSS will actually deliver ALL the promised variants to risk the $120 at this stage.

Subscriptions have become so pervasive / prevalent that they can not be avoided. The ones I hated the most were DirecTV (it has been replaced) and Verizon (it has been replaced). You would call them and say you were cancelling and magically you qualified for a $50 or $100 monthly discount for the next 12 months. Don't get me started on monthly insurance payments. Anyway, monthly payments (subscription and other) are killing me. Being a personal (vs. commercial) consumer, I prefer to buy it one time and then pay for it again in the next, newer, better simulator!

And that next, newer and better simulator will probably also be subscription based...

it only sells if folks buy it. Anyone who wasn't born this morning knows all about the 'subscription service' scam. It sounds great and almost makes sense -until their hooks are in ya and the fangs come out.
there was just an excellent 'Black Mirror' episode about this garbage - because it's ALWAYS bad news
