If crossram's BV-222 gets finished we can have a Mirror, mirror on the wall; which makes the biggest crash of all? That's a 6-engined flying boat, a hobbit will have to stand on the seat to see out of it! Or is that why you keep crashing??? :173go1:
 
Can I ask a question that may make the Short Bros (Ted & Steve lol) groan. Are we likely to see any of the inner areas of this boat that made it a joy for its crew, like the galley or the wardroom or the bunkroom etc. I'm guessing the answer might be no, but I like to remain optomistic, as in some aircraft we've seen navigator's or engineers positions.

Yea i stand on my seat, really tuff getting to the rudder pedals through..:icon_lol:

And as much as I poke you all some times with a pointed stick, I am looking forward to the work by the developers.. And are truly grateful for the efforts of these men..

And not to worry when the God awlful ugly flying boat is finished, I will crash it often..

eerrr...most likely not Beau. I guess there is a limit on # of views in cfs3 that Ted has run into on the B24. With all of the gunstations on the Sundy there probably wont be room for much else.

Also I just dont see myself modeling all of those areas. These projects tend to oulast my attention span.

During the war BOAC operated a number of them, which they called the Hythe.

There were demilitarised/civilianised versions postwar, known as the Short Sandringham; three still exist, one hidden away somewhere in France, one is at Fantasy of Flight in Florida & one is at Solent Sky, I remember that one flying to the UK in the late 70's, a very impressive sight, but it was going to cost too much to keep it airborne unfortunately.

In the background is a Walrus/Seagull and the only museum I know of with both is RAF Hendon. But the serial number is a dead giveaway - it's Hendon's MkV.

Among the cargoes carried during the Berlin Airlift was salt - because Sunderlands, unlike most aircraft, were built to resist salt corrosion.....
