Super Cub: new screenshots

The red Super Cub you see on the W.I.P. page is owned by SOH's very own Tom (fliger747), and he is the chief beta tester for the flight dynamics. I think they should be just about as good as they can get.

FSX doesn't model propwash over the stabiliser (unless you do a work-around which screws up other things), so the "brakestand" isn't there. I wish it was, as it's a very neat thing so see. However, the Super Cub will do exactly the same take-offs other than that.

I managed to get the aircraft to put it's wheels in water, but not consistantly - about 8 out of 10 times it would just snap down into a three-point position, and the controls freeze up. So, unless it's going to work all the time, I can't include it, unfortunately.

The owners of this aircraft have had it for some 40 years, so it's a very original Cub Special. It's just up the road from me (so to speak!), and the owners are just about the nicest people you could ever meet. Soooo... spent some happy hours taking detail pics and poking around. Didn't have time to fly, but we'll do that next time.

Well doesn't that just look like a little patch of heaven right here on Earth? Gorgeous shots of an amazing location. If I could live anywhere I wanted, it'd look a lot like that. Cub included. :applause:

It's actually a very comfortable cockpit - might look a bit small, 'cuz I'm pretty tall and hadn't moved the seat back. :engel016:

And yes, it's a beautiful region. This happens to be Big Rideau lake. Come visit anytime!

Those bumps cover the tops of the spark plugs, and related wires.

Btw, the Edo 1320 floats on the plane were built in 1939! When things are well made, I guess they last. C-FIKI has some 6500 hours on her at present, and almost all of that on those floats.

I found a reostat controler for a treddle sewing machine that was made around 1936 or so. I hooked it up with some more heaver wire and later used it to control a 1" drill that weighed about 35#. It never even got warm. Things used to be made to take some abuse and keep on going.
