SW Pacific Tour Standings and Statistics

Nice work Paul!!

We need to chat when the race is over this could be just the ticket for tons of events.

:ernae:

If it helps at all, I started to put this in a Google Spreadsheet - https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?...thkey=CJfXw84O

Anyone can go in and add/edit. Maybe pilots could be encouraged to do their own.

Edit ONLY columns A and B (Pilot name and class) in the Totals sheet and ONLY columns A-D and F in each pilot's sheet.

To add a new pilot, add their name and class to the Totals sheet, duplicate an existing pilot's sheet at the bottom, rename it to the new pilot's name (make sure spelling is same as column 1), clear out the data in columns A-D and F (don't delete the data in column E), and start entering the new information (Orig, Dest, Distance, and Flight Time). So long as the pilot's name in the first column in the Totals sheet matches the name of that pilot's sheet, it should do most of the work for you.

Feel free to modify as you see fit... or don't use it at all.

Yeah, we can all do this ...

Hey Smitty ... what values did you use for the speed entries?

Average Ground or Indicated?

Be somewhat easier to go through and double check or verify, than it would be to have to do it all.

Let me know Paul ... if you want us to do that, I'll get right after it.

Lets give it a shot and see how it goes. Looks like the average speed values are calculated (dist/time), which is what I was doing. I'll continue my data gathering as a backup.

Okay ... leave speed blank ... record Flight Time and Distance Flown ... correct?

or isn't the figure you come up with the same a avg ground speed?

I don't know mista ... I jus work here okay?

My comments about the speed was in response to what I thought was your question to Apollosmith about what sort of speed he was recording. It looked to me like he was calculating average speed using distance and time from the duenna file, which is what I'm doing.

Really, the only value that is needed to time. The winner will be determined, in each class, by the shortest time, overall. I'm calculating average speed just as a curiosity. So, as long as time is added up for each leg, we can figure out the winner.

Yep, just add time (apparently "Flight Time", not "Baton Time") and distance from the Duenna. It will calculate your average speed for that leg (and for all legs) automatically. It's just distance/time.

Nice.... Took me a sec or two to figure out how to duplicate a sheet, but I got it.... (for those wondering as well, yhou go to the name of the sheet you want to duplicate, on the name/sheet tab, click the triangle, when the menu pops up, it will give the option to duplicate, then click the duplicate sheet tab, click the triangle on the tab again, then select rename, then name it to the SAME name you used on the totals sheet...)

Very Nice Smitty! Thanks!

Was wondering where we were at on the standings. We supposed to fiddle with the google sheet now?

Paul- have you abandoned your initial stats and such?

No, I haven't abandoned mine. I am working on updating my spreadsheet now. I have been "derilic" in my progress tracking duties this week and am now playing "katchup". I think the Googlespreadsheet is meant to be updated by each pilot. Not 100% sure about that, however...

Ok, spreadsheet updated. Just click on the link in the first post of this thread.

I wish I new more about XML as it seems like there should be a way to pull out the pertinent values from the Duenna Text file and load them on a web page.
