Like a kid with a new toy - I've been playing with the bgl making and I've come up with an adaptation of the GroundCrew Swordfish - by adding a radome ( which can be used with any appropriate a/c ) and a new skin and dp I come up with the Mk III - still needs a couple of refinements but I thought I'd show off

Very suave....

It's like alpha and omega, the first and the last, the old and the new. There's a certain symmetry to it. An old plane like the Stringbag well past her prime, but soldiering on equipped with the latest technology in form of radar. I like it. :medals:

Not only does she look very good, but those depth bombs really set her off. I'm looking forward to flying her. Thanks Baldy!

it would only be a mods package I could upload, you would have to have the original a/c - I don't know how we stand on this because the original GroundCrew readme says you need permission to upload modified files - who do we ask now ? perhaps our Moderator might give a ruling on this.

Since Reg's Hangar is the successor to GroundCrew we ought to ask them for permission to upload but I don't see any contact link at the website - any ideas ?

Mk III

The immediate solution is for me to upload a package that doesn't involve using an altered skin - so this is what I'm doing. The mods will actually work with any Swordfish - you might have to tinker with the hardpoints a bit and touch up the textures but it would work. The radome can be used on any aircraft.

PM Mathias here at the OH, if it's not his work, he'll know who's it is. He now has a payware company, Classics Hanger, you'll find him and a link to the site in the FSX forums.

Yes, it's mine and Alessandro's work. Feel free to use an modify the S-fish, using the usual crediting procedures and stuff....:icon_lol:
 
Just a quick question for the Stringbag experts out there. Did the MKIII have the metal wings of the MKII, I cant seem to get confirmation,

Hi Watchdog

My information is that the Mk III was practically identical to the Mk II ( except radome ) and that the lower wings were metal on the underside( so they could use rockets ) but the upper surface was still fabric.

Thanks for the info Baldy. Is the Albacore up at donationware yet? I have not been able to access the library yet

Milton and Henry have been taking it apart bolt by bolt and are now putting it back together - makes me realise how little I know - couple more tweaks and very soon now

dp error

small error in Swordfish dp - where it reads

mount.20=wep_hood,1,-1

change it to read


mount.20=wep_hood,1,0

do this for each payload otherwise you could be dropping the hood instead of weapons.
