T-28D Trojan released. payware

Re the speed brake:

A models never had them and with the A model only having an 800hp engine they probably weren't needed.

B+C models with the larger 1425hp engine do have speed brakes (and baggage compartments, the speed brake is before the baggage compartment, you just can't open the baggage compartment with the speed brake down as you would hit them together).

D models, being converted A models miss out on the speed brake. BUT some D models were converted B models so these may have had a speed brake.

I will look into Rogers DX10 issue.

Anthony,
That would be me...Let me try the shaders first, if it still does it I'll let you know.

not to get too far off topic - but has the blinking night lighting been fixed yet?

in DX10 in evening or dawn or full darkness, the landing lights and ground lighting all blink in unison with your strobe light...kills DX10 for me - among other lighting issues...
Is this T28D related? I hope not.

I was able to replicate the rear panel problems in DX10 and was able to figure out the fix (it wasn't too hard). It will be fixed up as part of the V1.1 patch.

Anyone else got any problems feel free to post about them and I will try to sort them out.

Must admit first plane i have bought of yours, but enjoying, flying Essendon to Hobart, noticed Cylinder temps a bit low at 5000 ft, had to add some heat and slowly close cooler doors to get oil temp up in green, so far cant see any annoyances. Loving it.

I was following the frenzy over the Dash 8 and was suppressing the urge to spend an additional sixty bucks on an aircraft I had already bought once. grrrrrr
I had been following your Trojan posts. I downloaded the demo and immediately went straight for the full model. This plane feels like an old friend. I like everything about it. Great...great airplane.

Cylinder head temps went to the top of the green at 5K alt, level 35 MAP @ 1900 RPM, cowls half. I opened a tad and it cooled right down to mid range and stayed there. Can't find any glitches.

Normally I run straight to the paint kit to make a skin I like, but this one was a beauty right out of the box. Yep....:salute:

Thanks Ant...

Anthony,

Seriously awesome airplane! Flew from Watson Lake to Norman Wells, FL185 just purring along..

Thank you!

Jonathan

Anybody up to do a repaint?

A dirty bare metal version of Ant's wonderful T-28D would be just the thing for flying out of Long Tieng, Laos (L20A) which is part of the Viet Nam War Project's scenery. For anyone who does not know about the role the T-28 played in the "Secret War" in Laos, you can google "Ravens."

Does anyone know if the T-28 ever had ejection seats. I've looked at the photo I posted above many times and always wondered why it has an ejection seat warning label. Upon closer examination, it does appear that the front seat just may be an ejection seat as the headrest looks different from other T-28s. I've done quite a bit of research and have never found any reference to ejection seats. I even found one site that listed every bail-out from T-28 that went back many years. From personal memory, I've flown in a couple T-28s and always wore the non-ejection type parachute.

What is the Vietnam War Project, and how do we find it?

Regards,
Ian.

I know what you mean. I mainly used those values because they look really good on VH-TRO which was the source aircraft (I much preferred the wider spec mapping on the polished metal than the original tighter spec effect I had). I will have a look at using alpha channels on the spec maps which should allow me to control those things on a per texture basis rather than globally.

Thanks a lot for wanting to have another look at specular lighting, Anthony, much appreciated! :salute:

cheers,
Trojan

Like Roger i have non whatsoever DX10 issues with Ant's amazing T-28. No blinking or other lighting problem at dawn/dusk/night at all. Looks all brilliant, best i have ever seen re lighting in DX10. Steve Parsons is the word and saviour for all your DX10 problems, Heywoood. You know that, don't you ?....

cheers,

Ian, the Vietnam War Project is a collaborative effort by several fellows (If I remember correctly.) It's a pretty big project and includes most all the airports, bases, airfields, Lima Sites, etc. retro 1960s.

I think this link will take you to the project. http://vietnamwar.project.free.fr/ If not, check flightsim.com.

Edit: Ian, I just checked the above link. It worked for me.

I'm inclined to think the armed Trojans/Fennec models might have had the Yankee Extraction system used on the A-1. http://www.ejectionsite.com/yankee.htm. You see the same rocket warning labels on some Vietnam era A-1s (USAF not USN).

just a guess ...

Hello! Mr. Anthony, amazing bird i must say. Made a few flights in Alaska region today and it´s a beautiful plane. Thanks for that.
I have some little things to show you:

In the screen below, it happens when i´m in tower view and turn on landing lights:
HNJo.jpg

The lights appears to lit behind the wings. It not show this when i´m in spot view. Just in tower view.

Another thing is that it appears that the landing gear wheels are spinning in wrong speeds based in the actual plane speed. Not sure if it´s clear waht i´m trying to say in here :icon_lol:
I´m just giving a little feedback, ok? Have all the other planes made by you and they all works perfectly :salute:

No, Anthony - the flashing lighting issue is / was a generic DX10 issue - sorry for the confusion

is the orientation of "NAVY" on the wing correct?
did not try the demo and bought it. No issues on framerates. Just had to reduce the elevator eff to 0.5 but this might be my old joystick.
Great plane, thank you!

Although that is a non-standard orientation, N8539 actually is painted just like that, so as far as this specific paint is concerned, it is correct.

I don't believe they ever did. A side note, that was my job in the USN: Egress Mech. NC
