T-28D Trojan released. payware

It actually does flood. We haven't been able to figure out the exact cause yet, mostly just from lack of time to look.

Of course, flooding is not a problem when only a few people are online together.

Flooding? Have not heard that term. Does that have to do with MP flying? NC

Well this is a fun and very nice looking airplane. I was at PC Aviator and got the Drifter as well. Thanks for all the hard work, Ant. I sure will be watching for your next project.

Flooding? Have not heard that term. Does that have to do with MP flying? NC

It means when certain aircraft send more than the normal number of packets of information when in MP. Most aircraft send info on location, speed, direction, etc. Some aircraft use "tricks" in the programming to more faithfully emulate certain behavior of the actual aircraft. For instance, some developers use spoilers to model slow flight more faithfully for some aircraft. When they do this, one technique is to call for the spoiler position, and if it's not in a certain position, to place it there. The problem is that when something like this is called, it sends out that call as part of the packets of info sent across the MP connection. Those calls are often programmed to poll the position a number of times every minute (even several times a second in some cases). Such calls can make an aircraft put out 10 or more times the normal number of packets of info. So, the offending aircraft "floods" the server with packets. This is not a problem per se. The problem arises when, say, 10 or so people are flying, and one or two of them is in a "flooding" aircraft. Now, instead of 10 times the usual amount of packets, you have 20 or 30 or more. It's like having 20 or 30 people flying together. That's a lot for most servers to handle. What usually happens is that those with the worst connections (not usually the ones flooding) get bounced. If you are flying on a MP server with a good number of people and some of them keep getting disconnected, it's a good bet that a couple of them are flying "flooding" aircraft.

Most of the developers I've been in touch with that have aircraft that have caused this problem have been great about trying to correct it (and mostly do). Anthony is a great developer. I have all his aircraft and love them. They are keepers. I suspect he'll work on this and fix it if it can be fixed in a way that allows his aircraft to continue to faithfully model what he is trying to model.

I just saw where Ant's T-28D Trojan is presently the NUMBER ONE seller at FSPilot Shop. Way to go Anthony!!!!!:guinness::applause:

Ant's T-28 Repaints

Hello all.

I was wondering if anyone has heard of any repaints being developed for the T-28?

Thanks

JC

Very good news, Cody.. Hats off to Ant for this outstanding plane, and to you and the rest of the talented painters for all of your hard work...:medals::icon29::guinness::salute:

Throttle control

I use the PFC throttle and am unable to control the throttle or mixture controls on the T-28. The throttle is always at 50% and if I move the throttle it increases from there. The pitch control works fine and I have no control of the mixture. I have no problems with any other aircraft. I have tried calibrating using both PFC and FSUIPC with no help.

Would appreciate any thoughts as at present the T-28 is not useable without throttle.

Thanks,

Tom Hibben

Hang in there...
As I was just telling some else...one of these will be easy...the other...not so much, you guess which one!:icon_lol:

I couldn't tell from the sales page images but are there
any weapons or pylons on the Armée de l'Air "Fennec" version?
:ernae:

There are no weapons or pylons.

I am looking at doing those as part of an update (at which point I will also see if I can improve the multiplayer performance).

That update will be a fair few months away as I will need to add the weapons panel, gunsight etc.

Hi Tom

You should be able to use FSUIPC (if you have the registered version) to calibrate the throttle to give you the full range.

Start up FSX and load the T28. Shift+4 to show the Animation Manager and click on the Diagnostic tab on the right hand side.

Now, waggle your throttle and mixture up and down. On the bottom of this page is the information on what your joystick is sending.

Anyone using default joystick assignments will see KEY_THROTTLE_AXIS_SET from -16384 to 16384 (approx) for the throttle and KEY_MIXTURE_AXIS_SET from -16384 to 16384 (approx) for mixture

Tom, you need to tell me what your T-28 is telling you. I don't know what command your throttle control is sending (there are a number that are possible) but if it is only going to 50% then the range will be 0 to 16384.

You should be able to use FSUIPC Joystick Calibration page to get your joystick to send the necessary ranges (ie -16384 for minimum and 16384 for maximum). I use mine to overcome some problems I am having with my joystick (ie it only sends a max of 16100 instead of 16384)

Anthony the Trojan is a great addon as is, but my wish list would add a gps. maybe it could just mount on top of the instument panel...

You do know the can of worms you will opening with an armed version right?

Hi Anthony,

I do have a registered FSUIPC.

Using the animation manager the throttle goes from 0 to 16384. The prop and mixture are at 0 and neither move. Just looking at a cockpit view of the control levers, the throttle always starts at the middle position and then goes full. I can drag it down to low rpm using the mouse but as soon as I touch my throttle it jumps to the 50% position or 0 in the diagnostics. Looking at the cockpit view the prop RPM lever will move from min to max. The mixture view won't move at all.

Using FSUIPC calibration I was able to set the throttle from -16384 to + 16384. In the cockpit view it will only start in the middle and go to max. I have tried calibrating using both the PFC calibration and the FSUIPC and neither seem to work.

I hope this will give you some clue.

Thanks for your help,

Tom

Hi Tom

Could you tell me what KEY information is being sent? Again, the Diagnostics page should tell you what is being sent. The information will start with KEY_ and there are a number of possibilities for what it may be.

Important to double check that FSUIPC is not sending KEY_THROTTLE_SET or KEY_MIXTURE_SET. I use these two variables to recalibrate the throttle and mixture controls and if you are sending them with FSUIPC then all sorts of trouble will ensue.

If you could post a screenshot of your FSUIPC settings that would be a big help.

I've attached a copy of the throttle settings on my system.

If you are going to be doing some VC remodeling in the future, any hope for a VC with more modern radios for those of use who fly in the modern world?

Hi Anthony,

The diagnostic is showing key_throttle1_set for the throttle and no input for the mixture and it doesn't list RPM.

I am having a problem getting a screen shot of the FSUIPC page
