Tactical Display

I have a really dumb question. For years I have never used the tactical display. Today I tried it and pressed the proper keys and nothing. Does it not work in Free Flight and only in Missions and Quick Combat? Thanks. Yeah I know it's a dumb question.

Figured as much. Thanks for confirming it. At least it works in QC and missions.
