Taking Chance

Have you people seen a movie called “Taking Chance”? I had never heard of it, but it was on HBO this weekend. It's about a Marine officer, played by Kevin Bacon, who escorts the body of a young Marine, Chance Phelps, killed in action in Iraq, to his family in Wyoming. It's based on a true story, evidently. It was pretty good. Appropriate for Memorial Day. Quite moving at times.

"Taking Chance" is a very good movie. I watched it last night, as I had rented it from Netflix. It holds special meaning for me, as I escorted the body of a shipmate who had worked for me in VFA-83,to his family in Albuquerque. Randy Neel was his name. He had drowned (along with 20 others) in a ferry boat capsizing in Haifa, Israel harbor, December 21, 1990. The movie was quite accurate in it's depiction of the process at Dover AFB. My experience was exactly like the movie.

PRB,

One awesome, moving, highly emotional movie.

I cannot say how much effected me. I had seen it many months ago, not nearly a year ago.

One of Kevins best ever rolls. Great movie, and well done.
