That's amazing work tankerguy. The C-119 is getting the exterior details that it has needed to compliment the work Larry has put into her. This has all the earmarks of being the awesome release it was meant to be. Thanks for stepping up and showing what can be done.:applause:

Much appreciated! Im honored to help get this project moving again. Have some friends who flew the box in RL and I am happy to give it a little TLC in the simworld. :wavey:

I want to help you !
Marty
Hi Marty, do you have skills in any particular area like texturing, FDE, modelling, coding etc.?

EDIT: Milton just filled me in on your history Marty and I'm sorry I didn't recognize you immediately (I blame the fact that I only recently woke up...lol). I will shoot you a PM shortly.

As Ed said it's a JATO pack (Jet Assisted Take Off) and it was fitted to later Boxcar variants to improve their short field capabilities when heavily loaded.

Thanks to some very clever coding by Roman to get around the multi-engine type restrictions in FSX it is now a fully working system and produces extra thrust when initiated. There is also an option to show/hide the JATO pack so that you can choose which version of the 'G' model you want to fly. Hiding the JATO pack will also hide the associated controls in the VC. In addition, having the JATO pack displayed will increase the overall weight of the aircraft as that is also built into the code.

Looking great! That's why I didn't volunteer. I knew it was in great hands.

I'm not that familiar with C-119 variants but is this one to have the Wright R-3350 or the P&W R-4360 engines?

Hi Willy, the engines modelled are the Wright R-3350-85 versions. They switched to those from the 4360 early on after having too many engine failures. Having a 4360 fail on a 4-engine aircraft is tolerable, having one fail on a twin is a different kettle of fish. It's quite interesting when you get into the history of the many variants. The empenage along the boom in front of the fin was added after some early accidents ended with the booms collapsing at the rear of the wing after heavy landings. They also added reinforcing rings to the inside of the booms and Tankerguy has done a great job of showing those in his panel lines and rivets.
