TBF Avenger Mk. II released by Allen!

Reply...

Allen,

This is outstanding work, and a much-needed update! Thank you! :triumphant:

Thank you for this Allen - a big help for BPF fans!

I haven't tried the damage skins out but it looks as if the 'normal' view of the great series of BPF skins that Revev did for the OH version also fit your improved model (after a bit of renaming of the texture files).

Cheers
BuV

A very BIG THANK YOU, Allen. :ernaehrung004::ernaehrung004::ernaehrung004:

Three cheers!

It is being installed into my BPF Campaigns today.

PS

Uncle Tgt,

Will your BPF-TF57 squadron skins work with this, or will they add the US version look back into it?

It would be nice to have 820, 828, 848, 849, 854, and 857 Squadrons properly acknowledged and recognized.

Shadow Wolf,

Yes, as Allen said, British Pacific Fleet, from the end of their Operation Meridian Campaign at Sumatra to the signing of the surrender in Tokyo on 2 September 1945.

In actuality there are four parts to the campaign; As Task Force 57: 1) Operation Iceberg One, 2) Operation Iceberg Oolong, 3) Operation Iceberg Two, and as Task Force 37: 4) Operations against the Japanese home island.

I am currently in mid-April 1945 with missions for the campaign and have been for some months now.

(I got side-tracked trying to build airbases for the missions which as yet were not built by or very greatly accomplished airbase builders.)
Key phrase: trying to build.:banghead:

Trying to build any airbases is pain. I done some messing around in GroundMaker (It worked better than AirPort 2.xx) for me.

Achim has been trying to teach me long distance with FSSC. I can build a base that works as long as it is no more than a single runway at ZERO elevation.

If it has taxiways, roads, buildings, etc., or is not at sea level, I am toast.

I tried my hand at Hirara - Miyako Jima. Three runways, a perimeter road, several aircraft parking spaces with revetments, all at about 150 feet above sea level.

Looks nice from 8,000 feet plus. Looks very amateurish from 5,000 feet and lower where Avengers release their ordinance.

Well Allen,

I can see the bomb sights work perfectly!

Good job on the aircraft. She flies very nicely!

The Mosquito bomb sight works well but for a small error in the panel. I had to go to the sight and change ident=Bomb_Sight to ident=RADIO_STACK_PANEL. If I didn't any time you went to the HUD view than back to the 2D panel the bomb sight would overlay it self over 2D Panel.

The .air file is based on the stock but I slowed the pitch and ruder down. I also changed the wing to one with a lower stall speed so you could get the aircraft off the deck with a bomb load.

All of those mods work quite well. She is actually a fun aircraft to fly, and as noted, the bomb sights are exactly correct. I was aiming for the intersection of the three runways, NOT ON AUTOPILOT, and my slight joystick correction as I hit the release made me miss the intersection by just a touch. It was bombardier error, not the plane.

Are you just requiring Pacific Schemes?
As I was Evan's researcher, we agreed to only cover aircraft which we could tie down to a serial number, so as not to overload things. Don't forget he also did the Hellcat at the same time.

As such 848 are represented by two skins, a MkI and a MkII: 376/X and 380/X, 849 by 371/P, and 857 by 372/W.

hewman100,
That is my interest in doing PBF right now.

UncleTgt has some outstanding skins for the OH TBF/TBM. And, this request is a bit of a moot issue because those skins work quite nicely on Allen's new MkII.
