Team SDB USS Enterprise. It's Out!!

  • Navy Chief, I had the same problem, it was because my ships boats was set to 15% and not 10%. Make the change and all should work. I also used the map with the proper location to go right to the ship. Be sure you are flying when you make the change. Hope this helps. Keep us posted.

Yeah, I pulled a boner too. Clicked the first Big E Add to Cart button I saw...FS9...duh! :eek:
The Pilot Shop fixed me right up with the correct one though. Thanks folks. :salute:

The FSX native S2F and the Big E! Whatta pair! Woot! Now all I gotta do is learn how to trap!

Umpteenth go around:

Have got Ship's boats set at 10%. Called up the map. No sign of carrier on it, or visual:(

This is with the proper location entered on the map. You should be very close to the carrier when you go back to the sim. The carrier doesn't show up on the map. You must return to the sim to find it. Be sure to enter the correct coordinates from the manual for your location. Sorry to be so detailed but looking for success here.

Is it necessary to enter the coordinates for every flight??

If you use the map to go to the exact location of the Enterprise, yes you will need to enter the exact coordinates to find the ship. You can also fly there using the instructions in the manual. If you want to practice landing only you just enter the exact coordinates found in the manual and bingo (no fuel warning) you are very near the ship. Let me know if you have success.

I entered the exact coordinates for the Big E off the coast of Florida. Nothing:(

NC , you may want to get a little height and just pan around a little bit .. couple specks on the horizon with a few sailings :mixedsmi:<input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input jscode="leoInternalChangeDone()" onclick="if(typeof(jsCall)=='function'){jsCall();}else{setTimeout('jsCall()',500);}" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">

The coordinates that accompany the map images for each flight (pages 15-23 of the manual) are for the center of the track. Depending on what time you get there, roughly (very roughly) half past the hour, the ship might be there. Any other time the ship could be up to 12 miles ahead of you or behind you. The course of the ship is also provided so you can decide which direction to start looking.

The Saved Flights were made so that you are 10 miles behind the ship only a few minutes after it has begun that leg of the track. So besides being able to see it you should also have at least 50 minutes to catch it to do whatever you want (buzz, trap, launch, buzz, trap, launch) before the formation starts to turn around.

Under "Settings" in FSX, "Ships and Ferrys" must be set at least to 10% for the carrier to show. This is a minimum so you can certainly use a higher setting.

If the Saved Flights are listed then they have been installed correctly. Most importanly, you do still need to add the traffic files to the Scenery Library. See page 3 of the manual.

Following Frank's co-ordinates and time , I left Ford Is plotted at 241 till approx 50 miles out then assumed course of 243 , caught the small fleet again on the very horizon at N20' 31.12 - W159'45.57 .... original plot at N20'32.45 - W159'41.88

Nice VA-94 paint! :)

Having much fun with this boat. Thanks SDB people!

Hey NC, have you tried dropping the ship in the water with AICarriers? That would at least verify that it's installed and basically working.

Glad you brought that up, shipmate. In fact, the Big E is NOT showing up on the AICarrier menu. I went through the manual. Where do I get the information to add it to the AICarrier cfg file???

Open the aicarriers.cfg file in your AICarriers folder. Add the following, changing the number to the next in sequence for your file.

[formation.13]
title=USS Enterprise CVN-65
unit.0=VEH_CVN65_Enterprise_80s, 0, 0

Thanks shipmate. Will make the change. Will report back, most likely, tomorrow evening.......
