Team SDB USS Enterprise. It's Out!!

Maybe. Mine is Nav.1 = 1, 0, 1. The rest looks like what I have...Don

Thanks Don, finally figured it out, the difference in Nav.1 setting wasn't the answer. My problem was that I was setting Nav1 whilst sat on the runway on dry land, taking off heading to sea, then calling up aicarriers to cause the Enterprise to appear 10 miles ahead. When I did these operations in reverse, ie magic up the carrier, before tuning the Nav1, then the tacan works fine, shows position and distance. Of course retuning the Nav1 after the carrier appears also works fine.

Your last sentence is the answer. When you tune the radio you'll get a message in red text on a green bar telling you only that you are tuned to a carrier (or airbase) that is listed in the carrier.xml file. Once the object actually exists (and since you were using AICarriers it didn't yet) you'll get a "locked on" message in yellow text on a green bar.

If the carrier is brought up in AI Carriers and you are still not getting the locked on message you can fix that by changing the frequency and then tune it back. Then you'll get the "locked on" message and all the advanced features will work. This assumes you have tuned the right frequency for the right version of the ship, there are four.

If you are within 100 miles of one of the 16 moving boat tracks you'll be locked on right away.

Enterprise CVN-65 and FSX Acceleration

Hi all!

I recently purchased the Team SDB Enterprise for FSX. I realized when I made the purchase that the System requirements called for FSX/Acceleration but made the assumption that my FSX installation with SP1 and SP2 would allow at least the basic usage of the Carrier, even though all the bells and whistles would not be usable. The installation into Win7 64 went fine, with all indications that the carrier at least was in add-on scenery.

I have not been able to find the carrier at any of the supposed locations, even with loading many of the flights provided. I have also tried to slew my aircraft using the provided Latitude and Longitude references, with the same negative results.

I guess my basic questions now are:

1) Will this carrier package not show up at all in FSX if I don't have Acceleration?

2) If not, and I need to buy Acceleration, will deleting SP2 and installing Acceleration cause me any problems with all of my add-ons, such as REX, GEX, UTX, Orbx PNW/NZ, not to mention many 3rd party A/C add-ons?

As briefly noted, I have a Dell XPS8300 with Win7, 64 bit, Intel i7-2600, 3.4 GHZ, 8GB Ram, and AMD Series 6700 Graphics Processor. FSX CFG with Bojote's tweaks gives me consistent frames in the high 20s, with the internal limiter set to 30.

I had the Enterprise Carrier package installed in FS9 a few years ago and really enjoyed it, so being able to use it again in FSX is a real treat. If I absolutely need to have Acceleration installed, well then so be it, but before I make that decision and face some potentially big problems with replacing SP2 with Acceleration, I wanted to see what the FS experts out there had to say.

Thanks so much for your help!

Ed

Thanks, Marine0326!

Marine0326--- Thanks for replying to my question regarding the need for Acceleration vs. just SP2 to run the Team SDB Enterprise package. I will buy the FSX Accel package and uninstall SP2 as required. Have been discovering that when others have had to uninstall SP2 and then install Acceleration there are mostly no serious issues with current FSX add-ons, so I think I will copy my A/C and Add-on scenery folders as well as create a backup of my current FSX Cfg file just to be safe.

I do appreciate your taking the time to get back to me!

Thanks again!

No problem Ed, just making sure you get the right info on the Enterprise package. Trust me, you'll like it when you get everything all setup and running. :applause:

Beautiful shots Ian, thank you so much for sharing. I absolutely forgot about that movie and now must find it. It was a great Sci-fi movie for the time. Thanks for sharing.

I remember being aboard Enterprise, must be well over 40 yeears ago now. Most of the fleet carriers then were still oil burners, the compactness of the Island was a dramatic contrast.

Looks great! T

I did just get this, quite nice, using it for further FSX testing of the STOOF series. Currently fiddle farting around to get it to cat launch with AI carriers.

Cheers: T

Looking or some info on adjusting cat launch speed, about 4000 miles from my FSX CD with the SDK.

:icon_lol: Back then Flash Gordon was the Captain , 40 years ago there was only 'one' ... Geez now I'm sounding like Connor McCloud of the Hi-lander :icon_lol: ... except CVN-65 all fleet carriers were fossil fueled till Nimitz in 1975 . I'd love the chance to step aboard a ship like that then the quote would be from 'TOPGUN' "were did he go - were did who go" :icon_lol::icon_lol:

From pages 11-13 of the manual:
By default the launch speed of the catapult in FSX Acceleration is too fast (almost 200 kts coming off the end of the deck) and has a one-size-fits-all approach. Using the Advanced features in the Enterprise package the launch speed is adjusted automatically based on the aircraft weight, the wind, and the speed value declared in the "Full_flaps_stall_speed" parameter in the [Reference Speeds] section of the "aircraft.cfg" file for the individual aircraft being launched. This makes for a much more realistic launch and allows you to advance the throttle(s) to full power for launch of lighter aircraft.
