Tell me what this is...

Well, we could always ask one of the wizards to make a whole new model, up to modern standards! Yes, I agree, it's a pain, and it's something they should have anticipated.

This one is supposed to have a white spinner with a black spiral, just for a change.

Some of the 109F models do that, or at least these have a split paint job that make the prop cover kind of appear as a spiral when the prop is spinning.

Different model. The F series was made by Mike Wholaver. The Gs are MS stock.

Then again it's not about not being able to make that spiral but about making it look like it's spinning... one with some serious blur just to see how bad it looks?

Nigel if you painted that nose cone black on one side and white on the other would it not do the same thing as the F models do?

I've seen attempts to make to look like it's spinning, and they don't work. Whatever you do, you can't win... It actually does not move at all. Not a thing.

The G-14 had one MG151/20 cannon and two MG131 machine guns, just like the G-6. However, both the G-6/U4 and the G-14/U4 were factory-fitted with the MK108 30mm cannon. That was a permanent fixture, and could not be changed for the standard 20mm. That also goes for the G-10 and G-10/U4.

WOW Luv black 4 N. nice work what you'v done with these 109's, I know you are a busy man. But have you any plans to do the same sort of thing with the fw190.

'Fraid not... I don't like the 190 one little bit! Even if Dancat has done a far superior A-8, and even if I have the GC A-4 Beta (which will not be released as Groundcrew moved on before it was finished) I still just don't like it. And the stock one is awful. The D-series is the only subtype that gets my very occasional interest.

I think Ronnybengt is the FW man!

Nigel I know you have done a few Spit XIV's but nothing like you have with 109's. Do you like the Spit as well?

I've done hundreds of Spits! The thing is that I could not release them as stand-alones because I didn't have a licence to manufacture them, so to speak. Anyway, at the moment, we're a bit busy working on a decent... well, aeroplane. Another one.

Yes I know you've done many spits but mostly of the early and midwar periods. Speaking specifically of the XIV, I think you've done fewer of these.

That might be because the XIV was never as widely used as Mk V and Mk IX. There were 6476 Mk Vs and 5653 Mk IXs (plus another 1053 Mk XVIs) but only 957 Mk XIVs built.

One, or two with the (effectively post-war) dark green/dark earth SEAC scheme which both John and I have covered.

And as it was used by a very small number of squadrons, the options are minimal. With or without invasion stripes, with/without fuselage band, black or sky spinner, and type B or C1 upperwing roundels. And to be honest, that's about it. I've done them all, pretty well, and John has done a few others.

By contrast, no two Bf109s were alike...
