Terrain graphics question

Well, I'm not oc'ing my card, which is a nVidia GeForce 9800GT, with 512. And it's new. But it may have been my settings, which I have fiddled with a bit, following some recommendations here on the board. Like I said, I haven't seen it since that one time. I have my settings per Siggi's suggestions above now (mostly default, but with the 16x FSAA and Aniso). I did notice, though, when it did happen that one time, that after I landed, if I looked behind me (TrackIR) there was a huge patch of ground right under my plane and stretching out a few "feet" on each side that was just white, no texture. Weird. Hopefully it won't return.

I always have blue spaces close under my plane (from cockpit view only) while sat on the airfield before mission start. That's a pretty typical glitch in many games and not necessarily indicative of a card or driver problem.

Winder, I believe the FSAA in the cfs3.config needs to be set at zero? Or at least in the case where the user is forcing FSAA directly through the card's own settings?

How Do I add cfs3.exe ?

On the cfs3.config panel, where you set resolution, FSAA should be zero.

Then on the desktop, right-click desktop and select properties, settings tab, advanced, and then the tab for your graphics control panel.

In "manage 3-D settings" you should add the cfs3.exe so you can set it individually. Put the FSAA and AF on x16, doing that had no negative impact on my FPS and I get wonderous graphical quality. You'll also find other stuff in there, but apart from v-sync (put that off for more FPS, but will get some level of tearing, your choice) leave as default unless you get bad FPS, in which case turn other stuff off (experiment).

How do I add cfs3.exe to "manage 3-D settings" ?

I am running a 8800GTX factory O.C.

Cheers.

I'm sure most people posting advice know more about it than I, but after a driver update the one thing mainly responsible for poorly rendered a/c on my ATI card was the MipMap slider defaulting to Max Performance.

It may not be the cause of anyone else's issues... but it hadn't been mentioned so I thought Id chip it in.

The "Manage 3-D Settings" window has two tabs, you want the "Manage Programs" one. At the top of it you'll see an "Add" button. Click that and find your cfs3.exe (wherever you have it installed). That's pretty much it. Now, instead of having to apply and use global settings for OFF, you can make an individual profile.

Best to set it as high as possible and leave it - then adjust the cards settings as you require.

Just a thought ...

We both have Nvidia cards and no one (yet) with an AMD/ATI card has posted seeing the problem. Might be something to keep in mind should others post about it..

I have this problem. Specs see sig. I have some pics. How do I add them in here?

Hey, GIANT
When you press "post reply", you get the text field, and some smileys below.
Further down, you find a button "manage attachments".
Press that, and choose pics from your system; then "upload" them (wait, till the blue line is filled, then close that menue, and pics are uploaded.
Now, submit Reply.
Cheers; Olham
