Pretty much clear weather, with just a few clouds in the passes.
However, these flights are instructive, and may be a money-and skin-saver if ever I'd consider getting a PPL.
I dare not admit it, but who sees what's wrong on the landing picture... :redf:
But nothing a few affectionate taps with a sledgehammer wouldn't fix. And a green Duenna is a good Duenna.
Haha !!
Take-off was completely fogged in, but I was counting on it to clear up enroute.
But when the clouds finally parted what I did see didn't match the map ... at all.
High mountains all around ???
When big water appeared ahead it finally dawned on me... I had taken off from Bowerman, as per the saved situation, not from Hood River.
Taking off again... from the right airport this time.
Down safe at Jackson Hole.
Mount Blackmore in thick clouds, just where I didn't need it. A few moments with beating heart until passing the ridge, hugging the 10k ceiling. Then visibility got much better. Phew.
Nice sightseeing flight, with Yellowstone and the Tetons lined up.
