tex install question

Hey guys; Could someone give me an idea how to install Mortons ZeroCarrier1 and 2 texs into the mz-a6m2b? I just can't seem to figure it out. Thanks:salute:

I going to pick on the stock Zero as a example.The way I do it is by by making two copies of the same plane Folder and changing the name of the folders with the name of the AC and it new texture.Then you need to open the AC Folder and look for file call Aicraft. Open it with notepad.

You should see this written on the top of open Aircraft file.

[fltsim.0]
title=A6M2 Zero
sim=A6M2_Zero
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
KB_checklists=a6m2_zero_check

Change the name A6M2 Zero to the A6M2 Zero and
the name of the texure here

Example:

[fltsim.0]
title=A6M2 Zero HERE
sim=A6M2_Zero
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
KB_checklists=a6m2_zero_check

Now it will show up as new AC with its new texure.
not only in your CFS2 free flight option and quick mission
but also in your Mission Builder as a new Zero with its new texture.
Do not forget you first need to add the new texture in the
AC Sub texture Folder first.

Always keep the a copy of the original downloaded AC some where else.
Never alter the Origianl AC. Always Keep it some where in a safe folders.
You only alter its copy.

I hope have been able to help you out?

Hi Miami; Thanks and forgive my lack of knowledge. I think all of these skins are supposed to go into 1 zerro. The 2 zerroCarriers have about 12? textures and a "common" file to save space. I can make 12 or more zerro files seperately, just thought these were all for the 1 file. Dang gotta go to the shop, I will give your info another read when I get home, thank you.:salute:

Thanks Maimi, I took a look in an aircraft folder with several skins. I believe I now understand what to do. Sometimes a fella just needs a little kick in the pants!:salute:(not the front of the pants)

Yes, Morton has his skins set up for individual installs. If you want to have them all in one folder, you will have to give each folder a unique name= TEXTURE.AKAGI, for example & place the 'common files' in that folder.

[fltsim.0]
title=A6M2 Zero
sim=A6M2_Zero
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=AKAGI
KB_checklists=a6m2_zero_check

You can make all of skins show up in the startup menu but the game will only find the first listed for missions. If you want all of the skins to be shown
Make another entry in the CFG for each skin with another name in the 'texture' Line=

[fltsim.1]
title=A6M2 Zero RYUJO
sim=A6M2_Zero
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=RYUJO
KB_checklists=a6m2_zero_check

However, each skin added counts as an aircraft & you can easily go over the "100'ish' plane limit

Thanks oldwheat; I have just run into that very problem. I have the 17 different named aircraft in freeflight,etc, but like you said they all have the same skin as the original, and will not load. But, I did not put the names in the "texture=", just#s 1 to 16. I am going to try putting the names in, just to see if they work. Another question you just answered was the 100 plane limit.I was not sure if that just applied to the aircraft file folder or not. Well, if nothing else, I am learning a little every time I mess up. In reality, it might be easier to install all the aircraft seperately. Thanks a lot.:salute:

P.S. It sure is easy to get over 100 planes! I made a simple folder with files on my desk top to hold them all.
