Texans and Harvards FSX released

No 2D is better but all the pop-ups went HUGE. With the pop-up GPS, I'm seeing just the bottom right corner - and that's full screen. I tried commenting out the whole section. No improvement. I have seat height set to one of the toggles on my X-52. Seven clicks on it puts the seat about where I want it in the VC.

open the panel.cfg and have a look down the bottom for
[Default View]
X=0
Y=0
SIZE_X=8191
SIZE_Y=6143

play around with the size_Y (make it a lager number) some monitor resolutions have probs with the default settings

Looks awesome Jess! That panel in the VC looks brilliant.

Not many developers even offer 2D panels these days. Nice that you guys offered one. I am considering not having them anymore.

:ernae:

Bill

You should drop them Bill. 2d panels are something from a past generation sim....It's all about the VC now!:d

I agree - perhaps pop ups for awkward to use things like radios and nav aids.

I love this product - such good value too :applause:

Anyone else seeing the 2d panel like that?
Are you running SP1 or SP2?

I guess I misunderstood the panel problem you were having. I didn't know you had a huge black area like that.

The image I took of the 2D clearly shows a tiny amount of stretching, but nothing as bad as what was shown on the previous page. I'm also running a monitor at 1680 x 1050.

Hmm in that case I wonder if he has the PANEL_STRETCHING=1 in the fsx.cfg
no idea where or if there is the option is in fsx itself

Well done Jesse and co, this really is good. All my reservations about the FS9 version have evaporated - this is great to look at (especially the AT-6D), a blast to fly, and it sounds good too.

Wozza,

Thanks for that change. I tried it and decided to go back to the original panel and just "A" thru it. The more I fly it, the better I like it.

To DSWO

The next FSX bundle will be the WASP piloted AT6D, and the Korean war T-6 FAC, with the 105 howitzer, special explosion locator, and Gary20's jeep plus add-on to make Gary20's jeep like a FAC jeep. The practice of giving a percentage of sales to two WASP museums will also be continued.

The FSX bundle after that will be the two Reno racers. Mary Dilda sold Two of Hearts and didn't race in Reno this year, but I'm thinking I'll keep the paint scheme the way it is and maybe offer a male pilot alternate to swap with Mary.

Jesse hasn't worked out the details, but the current plan is to offer some sort of price break to those who also buy the additional FSX bundles of the Texan-Harvard package. I don't know how he'll work it out, but I strongly suggest that you keep track of all the details like receipts and confirmation numbers when you order.

Volume Two will be a post-war version of the Harvard MkII, a standard Harvard MkIV, an SNJ with a tailhook, a COIN version of the Texan as it was flown in Algeria in the 50's and if I'm not too tired, a AT6 with the tailgunner position modeled. There should be both FS9 and FSX versions of vol. 2

A while back someone asked if there will be a CFS3 version. Jesse said yes.

My new favorite in the "more or less low and slow" catagory! Great plane. I like the RAF panel a little better than the US one.

My 2 cents on 2D panels - I like what the WoP people do with them. Just a place to stash a few basic gauges. I use the 2D panel as a giant kneeboard. I put the auto pilot, GPS, radio, and whatever other pop-up panel I need. Then I fly from the VC, switching back to the 2D when I need to look at one of those pop ups.

Bought it and like. BUt, gawd it is sloooowwwww.

Didn't they make fast planes back in the brown shoe days?

:d

Converting FS9 textures to FSX version.

I thought it would be good to post a few screenshots showing how easy it is to convert textures made for the FS9 Texan and Harvard into ones that can be used with the FSX models.

This FS9 repaint was done by Donald "Zoren" Radke and was available over at Flightsim.com. All I had to do was take three files from Donald's set, the wing, fuselage and wheels textures and re-name them to match the FSX files and I was 98% ready to go. The bump maps and reflections all worked fine without any adjustments. Mr. Radke had saved his files as DXT3 and they worked well. I changed them to DXT5 just so they'd be the same as the originals. I didn't notice any difference between the two types.

There's a small area on the bottom of the FSX fuselage where some texture was added to the texture map using an area left blank in the FS9 map. We'll be posting a list of details for the re-painters over at the SkyUnlimited website, but it should only be a matter of a few minutes for re-painters to get any textures that they might have made for the FS9 version ready for the FSX version.

Ok, who left the trunk un-latched? My luggage is going to fall out!

I already paid too much for the AS version or I would buy this in a heartbeat...and not just for the interior textures.

looks like a great plane - for speed - just modify the .cfg for the Reno racing version :kilroy:

What versions do they have? I don't see any pictures of SNJs

Heres what John had to say "Volume Two will be a post-war version of the Harvard MkII, a standard Harvard MkIV, an SNJ with a tailhook, a COIN version of the Texan as it was flown in Algeria in the 50's and if I'm not too tired, a AT6 with the tailgunner position modeled.
