• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

texture views

SOH-CM-2025
When viewing texture files within an a/c, I can view some and others say "drawing failed " within the same texture file. Is there a fix? I am using windows picture and fax viewer

Are you sure the texture is the same file? Windows picture and fax viewer can't read compressed format BMPs.

Far as I know there is no plug-in like Windows picture and fax viewer to let you do a quick view of compressed BMPs. You will have to open them with DXT Bitmap.

Please note that I think there is 1 or 2 of the compressed formats Windows picture and fax viewer can display.

Its the Alpha Channel...

Most of the DXT formats with alphas won't show. Use MWs tool. Just don't save them after viewing.

XNView

If you want ease, speed, and convenience in viewing all your compressed bmp's, then search no further. XNView is a highly versatile godsend. Amazing for searching, scenery texture bmps, too.

And it's free. :)
