Texture_max_load=2048

In the FsX.cfg there is an entry under [GRAPHICS] called
TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD. To get the best out of 2048 x 2048 textures this figure needs to be set to TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=2048. However if you make any changes during a flight in the Display section in options, the figure reverts to TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=1024.
Is there a way to create a little program like say a batch file that could be used every time FsX is booted up to make sure that figure is always returned to 2048?

Roger..There is a way to send a copy to your desktop of your config,then before each flight you open it and save,but don't let the changes take place..I tinkered with it but got confused..

Maybe you can figure it out...

My eyes aren't even open yet...

Nicely done, thank you, I forgot all about this option, used it before, before I started having senior moments.:ernae:

Looks good Nick:ernae: So even if you make changes in options/display the special config is immutable?

Like harleyman, I keep a shortcut on my desktop for both FS9 and FSX's cfg files. This allows for easy editing. I did set mine for 4096 Nick, but there was a small loss in fps, even though the only 4096 textures I know I have are REX's 3-D clouds. I went back and set REX's clouds to 2048 and the cfg to 2048. I see no apprecable difference in appearence, but my fps is steady again.:ernae:

The 4096 textures were mentioned because I use FEX HD cloud textures and got sick of having to edit the FSX.cfg file every time I altered the AI, or scenery settings etc. You can do whatever is easy for you, this is just one way ;)

This is pretty interesting. I had thought the settings wouldnt 'adjust back'.

Wouldnt it be cool if you could add that line in the FS9 config and it would work? :d
