The 20th Fighter Group is now available!

20th Fighter Group update...

Hey guys,

As promised, I have been working to gain permission from respective authors to include their works in the consolidation packages for the 20th FG.

Thus far, I have permission from...

Wolfi
Pen32Win
MaskRider
Ian Elliot
Stiz

Other authors (Bismarck13, Xavierb, Robert John, simonu, Jim Jacobsen) do not require specific permission, so long as the packages are kept freeware.

I am focusing on objects, scenery, and ships first. Aircraft will come later.

There are some items that by contract and agreement, I will have to provide links for and will not be able to include.

Ex-Donationware auto installers (B-17, P-51)

AI bombs by Tango Romeo

Collin's ships (Because they contain .dp files by Tango Romeo)

Lindsay Watt's library objects and trees.

My next targets: Cees Donker, (PM sent) Canion (PM sent)

Good evening,

The last four missions are being worked on now. Today, I set all the flight paths, added the vehicles and other non-GSL infrastructure, timed the missions, and created the triggers. Tomorrow, I have to do the events, and the last four missions will be done.

Then it's wrap-up, packaging, and uploading. :encouragement:

Good afternoon,

One mission left! :very_drunk: :triumphant: :very_drunk:

(But not tonight, I have a ball game to go to!)

Good morning,

All missions are complete, and I just finished writing and testing the second campaign file. :jump:

Now for testing and getting some other stuff uploaded for it.

Good evening.

Here is a preview of what you'll need...I'm still working on pulling it all together.

I see you are still using original Akemi's Fw-190s. Any chance your missions will work fine with the new Team Daedalus' versions ?

But of course they will. Just replace the Fw190 aircraft names in the mission files with the names of your preferred Team Daedalus versions. :encouragement:

Roxanne,

I've been going back and forth on this. The issue for me is that for the ETO and the MTO, I spent a lot of time in each era deciding upon a "common core" of aircraft that are used by many or all of the campaigns that I release, so that way the downloader / user, once they install one of the larger campaigns, already have the majority of aircraft, objects, scenery, and ships they need for another campaign.

To this end, sometimes I limit using aircraft with many modified examples (such as CK's Daedalus Focke-Wulf models) so that the user has a less strenuous list of materials to download.

But as Bearcat said, this in no way precludes you from downloading your preferred models and making your own edits.

Just remember to "Hand Edit" in note pad. If you do edit them, please share. Others might have an intrest in them with the different ACs added.

Thank you for your replies.

I know how to replace one aircraft type by another one with the notepad. My main wondering was a bit more specific than that.

One point is concerning the payloads, since the DPs of TD's Fw190s are different from Akemi's original aircraft. Will I be facing Fw190s trying to air-intercept me with SC500 bombs under their belly, or will they try to destroy a bridge with an external fuel tank ?

Another point is concerning the airfiles, for the same reason as the DPs. Will TD's Fw190s behave like Akemi's original aircraft, more specifically when conducting ground attacks ? I know some aircraft won't attack ground targets (see Captain Kurt's specific AI ground attack versions of FDG2 P-51B/C).

That's why I was asking.:wavey:

Ahhh...thanks, now that's being more specific. The TD models and the original Akemi models share the same visual dimensions. That said, swapping (or editing) air files and dp files is the easy solution to any appreciable differences in performance or payloads that you encounter. The performance issue is an unknown variable at this point. Trial and error is the only way to know for sure. But i can see that payload edits will be a must-do in most cases, since the original missions were obviously written without the TD payloads in mind. Matching DP payloads is the often unmentioned hurdle one faces when swapping models in missions, but there's no way around it.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Scenery Add-Ons

Description: This is a consolidation package that includes nearly all of the objects required for the 20th Fighter Group campaign. At the request of numerous users, I went through the effort to gain permissions from the authors, and have laboriously cobbled together many of the objects required for this campaign. This includes objects for both GSL scenery and for the objects used in the missions themselves.

Ships, aircraft, and the actual GSL scenery needed (including Achim's airfields, as well as the two new airfields for this campaign) will all be included in separate downloads; Scenery, Ships, Missions, and Aircraft. However, this object package will greatly lessen the load for installing this as well as numerous other ETO campaigns and missions I have released, both past and present.

Good evening,

I will be uploading the Scenery, Aircraft, and Ships while the Missions are still undergoing testing. That way, we'll get all the bugs ironed out! :wavey:

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Ships Add-Ons

Description: This is a consolidation package containing ships required for the 20th Fighter Group campaign. In this package, you will find most of the ships required for this campaign, which I also use in numerous other ETO campaigns. The ships in this package include the works of The Virtual Navy, GroundCrew, Brunosk, Usio, Mas, Psullykeys, and AF_Midway.

This is the second in a series of five packages for the 20th Fighter Group. Other downloads will include scenery, aircraft, and then the actual mission / campaign files. These packages are intended to greatly lessen the workload of the user, thereby allowing them to install the numerous parts needed for this campaign with the minimal amount of downloads possible, and also to minimize the risk of any objects being left out.

Thanks. :encouragement:

Merging the payloads won't be a problem, and I will have to try and see if the missions still work when using TD's airfiles. I think it would be a shame if TD's airfiles didn't work well in these missions, because they did a killer job to make them as close as possible to the real birds.

EDIT : there are no payloads other than 'Guns only' in Akemi's original Fw190s (which is quite weird in the case of the F version), so may I use either Kelticheart's or ChrisN's DPs ?
