The Ark Royal

Hi all,
I'm looking for some help from any old timers who might be lurking around. I've recently gotten back into CFS 1 after a long gap and have most of my old stuff installed and working, including Cor's mission builder. (My other thread)
This game is so much fun! I need to get the ARK Royal installed. It was a aircraft carrier parked right next to Guernsey, for those who don't know, and you could take off and land on it. I have my old zip file and I think I saw it downloadable still on this site or simviation or I could upload it if needed.

Anyway it is an EXE file and gets stuck looking for an earlier version when trying to run. I suspect it is looking for the original path to the scenery which doesn't exist in windows 10.

I'm thinking I can create a fake path like C:windows/program files/cfs/scenery and fool the program into loading?

Does anybody remember what the original path was in win 95 or 98?

Does anybody know a workaround?

Ah, I was looking for that the other day; good old days on The Zone . Can't find her in any of my old libraries.... Did you ever manage to get it installed? Could you post it? (or the exe?)

original path would be: c:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator

I did not get it to install, and I can post it if possible either during or after the file migration.
I did find a couple of carriers that did install. The HMS York is parked right next to where the Ark Royal would have been, and Cva9 parked south of France near Nantes.
I can't land or takeoff on either one, probably due to the "can't land on water" thing, which I haven't yet pursued the fix for.

Edit: I found the Installer but for version 1.5, got it working. Resulting BGL/BMP files attached.
I saw you uploaded the installer for version 2 overnight just after I posted this so I've gotta check if that works better some other time.......
Take-off: impossible, have to start just flying just above the deck in free flight Landing procedures are explained in the readme.txt, but I haven't succeeded yet, could be a skill issue.

I tried to install the Ark Royal v2, but the installer wants to check my PC (2,5 TB) for older/exsisting versions and after 5 hours it was still busy checking (at least, I hoped it did), so I gave up. If I have the time, I have an old XP laptop with only 256GB memory and a CFS1 on it, maybe that will make the installer working.

Ran it on a blank Windows 98 virtual machine, and managed to get the files out; take-off from the deck works in this one.

My 20 year old Toshiba managed (after about 7 minutes seeking for an excisting AR) to install the files in CFS1. It is in the scenery map as "all" and you can find it in the CFS1 sceneries as Ark Royal. It works ok, with the red and green lights. I think my files are the same as SdC's attachment
