The B24 Guy has released his namesake!

The jpg compression has messed them up badly. Each image he has uploaded has about 15 shades of black do to the jpg compression and is next to imposable to fix. He needs to up load each on as lossless .png or .bmp that will not compress the image or distort it.

No it will not work. ANY image that is a jpg will NEVER work as a panel. jpg format will compess the image and mess it up.

OH_B24D Bounce and texture fix.zip is added in the upload b-24? or We must replace the mdl with this fix?

Any add in the panel the gaucho_59 improves?

:kilroy:

Hi Maxstuka, I have not asked Rami to replace the files yet. I wanted to make sure that they will not need any more changes.

I PM'ed Gaucho_59 and asked him to e-mail the panel files so I can upload for him.

I would rename the bounce and texture fix to B24d_liberator and replace it just to be sure that you have the latest MDL.

Regards,
B24Guy

PS Thanks again for all the nice comments guys.

TheB24Guy,

I actually just finished updating the package, renaming the model file and adding the revised aircraft.cfg.

I have no problem adding further revisions if required.

Thanks Rami,

I think it is as good as I can make it.
Hopfully Gaucho will send me the panel files soon.

Regards,
B24Guy

Before you peep the wrong thing...

No it will not work. ANY image that is a jpg will NEVER work as a panel. jpg format will compess the image and mess it up.

The textures I posted are COPIES of the original layered PSP images, which, furthermore, for the model I made into BMPs...
Sorry to hear you think I am such an idiot as to propose my redone textures... to be used as JPGs... lol
and please notice I am no beginner when it comes to artwork...
to be used "as is"... would certainly be idiotic...
The final BMPs would be too large to just post as examples for crying out loud!!!!! hahahaha
If the pertinent individual would like to use them... they would of course be provided as compressed BMPs... which using Wright´s program would
not present any loss of detail, moiree patterns, etc.

Hope this dispells any doubts as to the quality of work I can do!!!!!

I left in such a rush...

Thanks Rami,

I think it is as good as I can make it.
Hopfully Gaucho will send me the panel files soon.

B24Guy

I have been gone almost a month on a trip to So. America (Uruguay... my birthplace)
but I shall be back by the 29th of Feb... and will mail you the finished bmp files ...
I am not sure whether I have your email address B24 Guy... but we will certainly be
in contact shortly after I come back...

I'm not upset with you but I'm at sc7500 that thinks you can just rename the JPGs you posted to BMPs and the will work fine in CFS2. Also that the leftchin and rightchin have the gun sight way to high.

Before I unleash a volley of vituperation on yer ass, let me spell this out for you, Youngster - I ran Gaucho's as-supplied Jpegs thru Photo Shop, to convert them to BMP files. Checked them with DXTBMP to make sure they read well before the next step.

I THEN installed them into the Panel folder with a lot of trial and error, because I'm not all that good in adding VC stuff to Panels. After several hours of wrangling the files as provided and converted, I managed to get them to work, and uploaded the resulting images here for others to use.

Even the most un-trained SOH simmer here knows that you can't change the extension of an image file and expect it to work. Gaucho's work is, as always, excellent.

If you get your facts straight, you'll have a much smoother journey through the Basement.

And you won't be upsetting yourself as much.

sc7500 and others,

I understand your point and agree with the general tone of your last post, but let's remember to play nice while we're in the sandbox.

Allen,

Please make sure that you attempt to evaluate and determine the facts before you put on the God shoes and start pointing fingers or blaming...otherwise you will alienate yourself from many people who would otherwise bend over backwards to help you.

Well said Rami,

Anyway, Gaucho PM'ed me and will send the files when he returns, and I will upload ASAP, cause they are really nice.

B24Guy

Make for Calmer Karma !!!!!!!!

Hello everyone,

Before I had my heart-attack I was getting more and more stressed.
I bumped into an Indian bloke who advised me to make for Calmer Karma, at first I thought he was having a go at me, then he wrote it down and I realised what he was trying to tell me.

Did I apply it - NOOOOOOOOOOO.

Result was a mild heart attack - felt like a surgeons scalpel going into my heart with an immediate loss of strength and breath down to about half of what I was.
Luckily it did not kill me or I would not be writing this post.

All of us have talents which we can use, some of us are more blessed than others in certain areas, so help each other out before you have a heart attack like I did.

Calmer Karma everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wavey:

As to the nitpicking about the sight being too high...

My dear fellow... it is a quickly and easily problem to solve...
One can change the coordinates on the acft.config to fit ... or tell me where the hell to put the sight...
Don´t re-invent the wheel purely for one-upmanship and/or have the last word...
One thing I learned after over 23 years as an Army officer and two wars... "if it ain´t really broke... don´fixit"

Ciao e buon viaggio

Changing view coordinates was a pain for me. I had to do it for the Betty when I made new gun windows for it. It a lot of guess work. Below is the right chin. One is gif of the old one to yours and still frame that shows your sight (the pinkish dot)and the old sight (the bule dot)

I did evaluate and determine the facts. 1st: sc7500 B-25 BMPs.zip dose not work. The BMPs in them have artifacting http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compression_artifact. Why I do not know since sc7500 says they should work fine in CFS2 but they are artifacted just not as bad as a .JPG.

2nd: I made an ass out my self. SOH now converts .BMP files to .JPG when you upload them as individual attachments like in sc7500's post #62. SOH did not converts .BMP files to .JPG pre SOH crash (I quit CFS2 modding soon after the crash). I found SOH now converts .BMP files to .JPG out my self last week when I tried to upload a .BMP to fix some unpainted parts on FDG B6N2 Jill and it was coverted to a useless artifacted .JPG.

Myself being mad at sc7500's post #62 is useless. It was not sc7500 falt that his .BMP got converted to .JPG. I will eat a crow sammich for my post #63.

I finally got to d/l and fly the B24. The B24 Guy another keeper.I may use the new B-24 in some missions in the future.

I like that "crow sammich" quip... must remember it ...

HI AGAIN,

I like your quip... great humor... might have a chance to use it sometime for comic relief when I need a dose of it...
I am flying out to Miami tonite... and then to LAX ... should be in my Palms Springs desert hideout very soon...
and will get down to maybe changing the originals... (really not that big a thing) or maybe...
learn from you about this trial and error placing of coordinates... you seem far more knowledgeable than I am...
At any rate, I think we can learn a lot from each other...
Like Bogey tells Claude Rains at the end of Casablanca... "You know Louis, this could be the start of something....{forgot the rest}
