The aircraft.cfg file specifies which texture folder is to be used. It can be a name of a texture folder but that is usually left blank unless there is more than one texture choice in the aircraft's folder. The actual bitmap textures are developed as part of the model building process and can't be altered unless the model itself is changed to do it.
Normally to replace a stock/original texture you only need to swap out the original texture folder with the new repaint texture folder. Again, unless there is some naming convention in play.

Rami didn't include a B-24J, only the OH B-24D by B24Guy. The skin link is to my Fightin' Sam skin. I just checked. The link is working OK.
If you want to add Allen's B-24J, of course it's no problem. BeePee did a number of nice repaint skins for it too.
