The Catalina X is finally released.

So to get back to my original point; you do not necessarily need a beefed up laptop to get a happy flying experience with FSX.

There's far more hype about FSX and framerates than reality if you have at least a dual core (don't forget that FSX won't even boot up w/o a graphics card, some lappies don't have real ones) and a well-maintained and tweaked FSX. Most people seem to get flustered at the first sign of a bad framerate and don't take the time to tweak it right, and then turn off the stupid framerate counter!

Damn you guys posting all these lovely screen shots of this bird, I'm £25 poored now because of you lot.
Oh well, who needs to eat anyway, I could do with loosing a bit of weight.

She sure is a beauty.

beautifull work again yago

the paint kit is quite simple to use, doesnt take long to work it out

can wait for the paints to start appearing

my quick attempt

I,m still waiting to get an answer from Aerosoft on how the get the paint kit..It says I have to register the product first but I can do it cause it,s not in the registration list..I love their products but not that much all the pain that goes along with the process of getting a paint kit. I,ve waisted hours so far trying to register in order to get it.I may not need it now cause I just finished the second and final paint for this bird.I think I have all the variants I need now.

Is it hard to do photoreal paints with this bro? I'd like to eventually do one also but if it's one of those puzzle type paint kits, I'll probably stay away. Great job on them man! :ernae:

Has anybody worked out the shockwave lights for this cat yet?
I'd love those on her..

JK,

Just like with the Aerosoft F-16 they are already set up in the individual aircraft.cfg files for each model. Just comment out the original lights by adding // in front of them and remove the // from each shockwave light.

Actually, no, it isnt.. There's really no puzzle to the paintkit. The only issue i ran into is that the channels seem to me to be inverted, and you do all your work at the bottom of the channel list. It even has one layer with no other purpose than to tell you to add your paints below that layer ( theres no image data, just a layer title ).

For doing photoreal, well, hope your computer is pretty hefty.. Over at OzX, working on the goose, Butch and Steve are using 4096x4096 canvas sizes to do what they're doing, and above 2048 it starts putting a real draw on the framerates for most people.. Since this plane already places a hefty load on the framerates, your success with photoreal may or may not be what you hope for..

No problem at all with the size of the textures, they would be the same size as the defaults, I'm using 4096 clouds also with no problem, so that's not a concern. Thanks for answering the question though. :ernae:

Yago.. OnAerosofts faq/update page Log into your account, and it'll take you to that page with the drop down list.. Below that is the question "Do you want to register another product. Click on the question and it takes you to a second page with registration entry boxes and another drop down list. In that list is where you'll see the PBY.. Once it's registerd you will be taken back to the first page where you can now select the PBY from the drop down list and get the paint kit..
