That looks great.

Has anybody done textures for Scotland, would be great to photoreal for the highlands.

Very nice!

Looks like the UK has a growing collection of great scenery. I personally haven't flown much there (except a great deal of time in & out of West Malling).

Not to hi jack this thread but in addition to this add on what other scenery's should I purchase to experience the UK?

Bob if you like Photoreal and have a bit of money to spare, the Horizon VFR scenery is excellent and it comes with great mesh. I think there is a chap posting airfields for the UK on Avsim, but I don't remember his name off hand, sorry. Gary Summons has released several packages for FSX now, including his GA airfields for the south of the UK. For Scotland, you'll want to look at Scotflights scenery, this includes landclass, mesh and many updated airfields.

I'm not usually a big fan of photoreal textures but that douse look stunning.
Not to sure about them being good value if there going to sell each island seperatly but if they do them as a full package then maybe I'll be interested.

hi

George kindly pointed out he'd made this post so I've come along to see what's being said. Thanks for the post George and thanks also for your replies everyone.

I'd like to respond if I may to the couple of posts mentioning that the area we are releasing is quite small. I can fully appreciate that it is geographically, but this project isn't about large coverage so I want to try dispelling the idea that we're aiming to release just another photo scenery if I can.

Firstly it would help to see it as 6 times as much coverage in remembering that there are a full six sets of textures. Winter , hardwinter, spring, summer, autumn and night.

And then you have to remember that each one of those six sets of textures has been produced at a ultra high 30cm resolution. or to put it another way 16x as much data as your average photo scenery
Full seasonal coverage on photographic scenery is a first ever (afaik) in flightsim. And that is because it really has been a very difficult thing to achieve and have looking something approaching realistic at the same time. Even moreso perhaps because of the resolutions involved.
Another first with this product is the 3d autogen. This has been hacked and rebuilt almost completely from the ground up, and is not remotely like standard FS autogen. What makes it different apart from it probably looking nicer than default, is the vareity of object that make up the scenes and a lot of those are animated. Also it provides a lot denser in coverage at the same FS settings compared to default, while maintaining the same or even a better level of performance. The autogen in the project is also seasonal aware as George pointed out. Which again is a first (afaik) That doesn't just mean that the trees change during the course of the year, they do ... but means lots of other catagory of object will alter during the year. Theres some examples in the screenshots George posted at the start of this thread and some more over on our site, but thats by no means all of it and I don't think the beta team have managed to find all of it yet.

Anyway, I guess my point being that... it may be a reletively small geographical area but it produces a lot of data and a hellava lot of work to get it at this level of detail. Alderney alone at a full ONE gig worth.. and has taken months of work to getting working like it does.
So it's fair to say IMHO that this is really quite a big product in terms of innovative features and detail.

If mods feel my reply is a little advert like you may wish to remove it, That's ok, I just wanted to explain why comparing the product to some other larger photo areas wouldn't be comparing apples with apples which is difficult to do without it coming accross as an advert tbh :)

This must be the scenery Mark aka 'Redline' was telling me about, made by a Horizon offshoot or some such thing. I see some of this beta shots on the site. Been waiting for this....

Hi - ive bought and downloaded this but they have not send any apparent serial number - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:help:

Hi

I now have the serial number - all is loaded and wow - even the frame rates are reasonable on my old PC. Well done Earthsimulations - I hope you have great sales :wavey:

It is indeed great.

My approach to the lighthouse was fine.. landing was a little like a first dance- shaky but still cool.. but then, bam. Tragedy struck. I collided with a crash box on the pad :( It appeared to be exactly on the pad too.:engel016:
