The Defiant is up at Reg's Hanger

It's been a long time coming and a real team effort. But the Defiant is finally there at Regshanger.com Check out the News page.
These Planes are for CFS3. They are not setup for ETO. However ETO will have it's own versions in the near future.
This plane is very interesting to fly. It isn't like a Hurricane. You don't fly at a bomber. You try to get close beside it. The gunner will do the rest or you can jump to the Gunners position and hammer away. But be quick, you never know what the pilot will do. It is all a bit of a challenge. If you get one on your first mission you can slap yourself on the back and say well done. :salute:

Use the Shift B key to Lower the back flaring behind the gun.

You will need the 2 new Do17zs' which are in Regs Do17 section to fly the missions. These are Do17z KG30 and Do17z KG76_1. Bravo4 did the skins for them.
Good luck with it.
By the way. HouseHobbit made these great CFS3 missions for us. We have restricted addon objects to make it easy to fly for those that like to keep things simple. More complex missions will be in ETO I believe.
I would like to thank Owen for putting up with all the model changes I put on him over the last few days.:salute:
Also John for wipping up the Do17z skins over night.
To the rest of the guys thanks for being there to finish this plane off after I had to bale.
Report any issues you might have. Remember this isn't a forward firing plane.
Well here you are Clive. Enjoy.

I had a problem with one of the Do17 missions. I have fixed it, so all is well with the mission download now.

Kudos Seacondor, Bravo/4 and so many others. Thank you for adding such excellent works to the sim!

All in favor add your comments please!!!

Just shot some video!:jump: May take a while----- after being able to make longer videos should be easer. Thank You,

:jump::jump::jump::jump:Excellent news to wake up to Greg!! Thankyou so much for getting this all together for us. :)
I can't believe it's finally out there!

Yep, it certainly makes for interesting flying having to think of your aircrafts postion from the gunners point of view, but if you can get into a bomber formation your gunner will do his stuff!

Fantastic news! Many, many thanks, Greg, John, Owen and all who were involved! I think I have something to do now, so if you'll excuse me for the day...

Before I shut down for the night I have one more tip. On my last mission I found a lone Do17z trying to sneak away. I was out of ammo by then. So I though I would lead the boys close by the Bomber and see if they would shot it down. It worked like a charm. Last I saw of that bomber was it hitting the ground.

Certainly taxes your formation flying skills! Trying to keep nicely alongside the target while your gunner nails it... My first kill? A Fairey Battle. Nothing like a bit of training before you get stuck in properly!

Many thanks to ALL involved, especially seacondor for keeping Reg's open for buisness! Simply outstanding!!!!!!!!!!:medals: I have a saying - "you are every age you ever were"; you fellows make me feel like a kid getting that one special present at Christmas (and you do it over and over again)!!!! Thanks again to all you talented folks and PLEASE keep this hobby alive!

Bloody Marvelous!!! A big thanks to everyone who was involved in creating this aircraft, it was well worth the wait. Have been messing around with it in QC flight mode (I bagged a Heinkel but his mate then got me!) but I am looking forward to sitting down with a beer tonight and having ago at Mr Hobbit's missions. Thanks again everyone!:applause:

Fab

I put the Defiant in ETO1.3 & all is cool !I Baged a109e & 2 HE111's ( 1 by roling over it!) Cograts to all.

Report any issues you might have...

My wingman and I also chose to test these in ETO 1.31 last evening.

I do know it was advised to run these in CFS3 stock, however I will proceed with this report as it most definitely will need to be addressed in the future when they are officially ported over to ETO.

The problem : Mismatched aircraft error occurred when leaving a Multiplayer session and returning to that the same session that was in progress. The fault was attributed to the Defiant MK II.

Troublehooting : We removed the MKII, and retried the same proceedure with only the Mk I installed.

Observation : The Mk I does not induce the mismatched aircraft error as described above.

Implications : Whatever is different between the Mk I and the MK II can be examined, and if the correction to this issue is discovered, it means we can also possibly fix the problem that occurs with the A-20, Boston, Whitley, and others when used in a ETO Multiplayer session.

Notes : The Mk I gun trigger is "not slaved in the pilot position", as it is in the MK II.

I also noticed that the bullets hitting the ground only showed up in the MK II.

Mk I ------------------------- MK II

So, again, we tested under ETO 1.31 and that invalidates proper control in testing, we are however going to do the same testing tonight in a Stock CFS3 session and see what is what.

Our thinking was that ETO is built on stock CFS3 so it should have all the files and folders req' for these airplanes and then some. And also it was stated that these will be included in ETO in the future, so hopefully we are contributing in avoiding future conflicts in reporting this.

One last note : This plane is pure awesomeness, and is a real GEM for CFS3 in general!!!!!
