The Fassberg Bootlegs

Mathias

SOH-CM-2024
That's records from a show we played back in May of which we just received some tapes.
Straight from the live mixing desk so there's not much to hear from the crowd, but the playing errors come out even better and there's quite a few of those nasty buggas.:engel016:
I blame the Bushmills single malt Irish Wiskhey brew for that since we tend to consume quite a bit of it before, on and after stage. :) (We are Bang Gang Ltd officially, inofficially we are the Bushmill Brothers).
Enjoy the Fassberg Bootlegs. :)

Very nice recordings, Mathias-

How long has the band been together? Those guitar duets (well done) aren't easy- you must have put in quite a bit of work on those- in general, your band is pretty tight...

I love the tone out of the LP and Explorer (I have a couple of each myself)- what amps are you guys playing through? I mostly play bass, besides acoustic guitar- what's the bass player using?

I wouldn't worry about those mistakes- I wish either of the bands that I'm in could get though a night with just those few blips! It makes me nuts trying to make good music with sloppy, drunk players- they're either nervous, drunk, or start out nervous and get drunk trying to calm down... I don't have a problem with tipping a few, just those who do more than they can handle...

Anyway, nice job! Keep on playing- after all, as Tom Petty sings, "you never slow down, you never grow old"... -Mike Z.

Hey, thanks Mike!
LP and Explorer, eh? Been googling us, right? :)
Well, the band exists since 2003 but I'm the last of the original lineup.
We originally played with a guitar and a hammond. Needless to say, we played a lot more Deep Purple back then.
My guitar partner joined two years ago when the hammond player left, the bass player joined a year ago.
Don't ask me what the bass player uses, I believe it's a five string Warwick but I could be wrong.
My guitar mate and me both play older mid 90th VHT (now Fryette) Pittbull Tops (handbuilt with pride by rockers in the USA, LOL).
He uses the Classic with EL34, I play an Ultralead with KT88 tubes.
We both run them over mid 70th Marshall 4x12 cabs with 25 watts Celestion "Blackbacks".

I just heard your singer say 'Les Paul' and 'Explorer' when he introduced the band (I listened to all of the songs)... then I found your website and almost fell out of my chair laughing- here's why:

I have a mahogany Explorer identical to the one you're playing in the pictures- nice, isn't it?

I used to play a Jazz Bass identical to the one your bass player is using (nowadays I play an Epiphone Thunderbird 4 Pro), and he's using Ashdown bottoms just like I use ( I use an Ashdown Evo II head, though...)!

If you wish, you can check out my band, bandmates, and me and some of my toys at www.thehardluckband.com. -Mike Z.

Oh, nice samples scattered throughout your site!
And I'm quite impressed by the long running history of your band.
Must be like an old marriage where all parts know exactly what to expect from the other. :)
My Bluesband is *almost* as old as your band, formed in 1993, and I'm playing with the singer in various bands since back in 1985.
Unfortunately it's a bit on hold right now since our bass player is fighting with cancer.
Here's our myspace site if your interested:

On the Bang Gang Ltd site, oh man, it's so awfully outdated that it hurts!
It's all the old lineup there.
On the Explorer, I actually use it fairly rarely. I play my beloved Gibson Custom Shop Gold Top LP most of the time. The Explorer only sees action when we don't have the time on stage to tune down the guitars for the B flat tunings of which we have some odd 10 pieces or so in the setlist, the Lizzies and AC/DC stuff mostly.

Congratulations- the Gangsters sound great too...
Sorry to hear about your bass player fighting cancer, of course, continuing to play is great therapy for many things, as I'm sure you'll agree...
That does look like a nice LP... our lead player used to play a silverburst LP... I gave him a 1974 Tele Deluxe (2 humbuckers) to try after that and he's never been able to put it down...
