"The Fightingest Flying Fortress in the World"

Departing from FIN Finschhafen to AYGR Girua (Dobodura)

Dang noticed I hadn't hit submit on this window until ready to post me landing. :banghead:

(someone call me 'Gollum' and say "Leave now! And never come back!"... or "Stupid Fat Hobbit" would work too :icon_lol: )

Great Ozzie;
I did the exact same thing.. Less knuckleheadedness and mostly eyes glazed from posting nine flights all at once (Internet went out for ten days, but I kept flying)..

Aha... so good bet then I'll be forgiven :wiggle: Seems since my first RTRW I managed to mis-post here or there. Paul seems pretty laid back about it. :jump:

I was too last night Charles after that third flight... like a zombie. Was why I did not attempt Cape Gloucester. Too scared I'd get there and have that same glazed eyes "yes I'm a deer caught in jacklights" look.

Turbo waste-gate failure on No.4 so I decided shutting it down was better than letting it run overboosted.

Planned to intercept the 90° Mag. Bearing (not radial) to Rwy 09 at Gurney but missed the turn horsing around w/ No. 4 while trying to avoid premature contact with the ground. So I circled on around to the south for a landing on 27.

Was relieved to get on the ground and even more relieved to miss the oddly placed fuel pump.

Great kodaks, G.O.! I especially like how number 4 is feathered. Good to have four engines! I had to feather number 1 last night. Unfortunately I was in a TBF Avenger... :icon_eek: As for filing the wrong "paperwork", heck, everyone's done that. No worries there.

Departing from AYPY Port Moresby to AYNZ Nadzab

(btw last completed AYGN to AYPY was Leg 9, not "8"... have learnt my abc's, working on my 123's)

===============================================================

Beach landing and a Green Duenna! Nicely Done! :cool: & :salute:

Yes I thought one engine feathered "looked cool" and the terrain provided a nice "backdrop" hence the multiple pics.

But I haven't figured out why the failure except being accusim. I think I am staying within limits...

Completed:

Leg 10 AYPY to AYNZ Nadzab

Flight Time: 00:58:51
Total Time: 08:10:18

Was it ever dark at Nadzab!! Sure had me saying, "why didn't I look for an approach plate before departing Port Moresby!"

G.O.;
Me thinks that "oddly placed fuel pump" is on a taxi/parking area.. that black strip in the background appears to be the runway:wavey:..
Have you had ANY sleep:sleep: since your started this last minute South Pacific run??
I think everyone has blown at least one wastegate.

But but but Charles... there's no asphalt around the pump. :icon_eek:

Yes, sleeping :) ... but truthfully it has been exciting to participate. :jump:

Tried to depart from AYWK Boram (Wewak) to WAJJ Sentani (Hollandia)...

but seems the Autopilot was on as I made a beeline for the left side of the runway and had no rudder/elevator control. :redf:

Reboot and try again...
