The First Day of Spring.....YEA!

I know most of you are wondering if I have been eating too many cans of expired sardines...but, by my way of thinking today (March 5th) was the first day of Spring. Next year it may not be March 5th, and I can't remember what day was the first day of Spring last year. But...today is the first day of Spring for me...as today I heard the first sweet call of the Red Wing Black Bird. Once I hear that wonderful sound, it is officially Spring in my book. I could care less that it is sleeting outside right now, and that we could have up to 4 inches of snow on the ground by morning. It is SPRING!

In a few months weeks, the marsh down beside the pond will be thriving with Red Wing Black Birds...and their call sets my soul a'flying like no other bird song.

...Still looking for my first robin. But getting desperate,...think I'll capture a sparrow from the bird feeder area and paint his breast area a reddish orange.
OBIO,..........long expired sardines are good for you. By chomping on them you'll get an extra potency shot of Omega 3's.

Yep! Lots of the low areas in town are flooded, low level roads are covered. Luckily, our place is up on a hill, so our basement/garage is dry as a bone. My wife's youngest sister got nailed hard early in the week...the basement of her home was flooded to within an inch or two of the first floor floor joists. Furnace, water heater and a large chest deep freeze full of meat were all destroyed...along with all the stuff she had stored in the basement.

Famous last words... Now, it will snow 10 feet and drop to -200 degrees :icon_eek:
